thinking about picking one up for a second car.. i used to have a 93 eclipse gs, but had problems and got rid of it and got a Sebring. A chick I work with has a 91 esi and said she wants $500 for it. The only problem she knows it has is a faulty speed sensor thats causing it to shift weird. She wasnt for sure of the mileage but said it had "ALOT" so im guessing 150k or so........I never really got into the modding world with my eclipse and but loved the car dearly. So is there any thing i should look out for? i just figure $500 is not much to lose.

Hey whats up, ok when you say her car shifts weird, I take its an automatic. I dont know about you, but modding an automatic isnt the same. Its all personal preference tho. If you like auto then hey thats cool. I have a 90 Laser Non-turbo, it is a 2.0 litre. Make sure her car is a 2.0 also, no one should mod a 1.8 automatic, its just frowned apon. Modding a 2.0 NT has its limits, but it is still fun. So it depends on what you are looking for. If you just want a fairly quick car with out spending loads of cash, id say go for it, but if you have money to spend and want a fast car, id say look around for a turbo.

for 500 bucks ide say go for it, expecialy if the body is in good condition, but things to look for would be smoke coming from the exhaust pipe when it idles, and idle surges,... if it has these problums then your looking at alot of money to fix, but go get the compresion checked and take it to a tranny specialist to make sure there are no major problums with the tranny before you buy it and oh ya, make sure it will pass emitions and safty
