Florida/Cali,
It is gonna cost me 1200 to have my 420a rebuilt...have been wanting to turbo this thing for ages...what might i need to do to get as much power out of this thing...or am i fighting a losing battle and just sell it and leave this whole race sceen behind...need your support...i am starting to lose intrest with all these new rides coming out...

put in some ROSS forged 8.8:1's, some eagle rods, those things alone will help you run plenty O' boost on that 420A of yours. if you are rebuilding the top end as well, get some higher quality valves and springs..some turbo cams would help as well. after all of that the ENGINE, as in not the car, but the ENGINE will be plenty ready to handle some serious boost....i wouldnt personally recomend pushing much past 20psi on the engine just because of the lack of oil squirters to cool the pistons but thats up to you.

Go to fasterthanyou.com and look at their built engines. They have the correct setup that you need if you wanna turbo your car in the future. Gonna cost somewhere around $1600 I believe. If you can install your motor yourself then you can save a LOT of money in labor costs. Its not THAT hard if you take your time and have some help.

You DONT need to do anything to your cylinder head. They are built well from the factory. However while you have the motor apart, its best to at least get a valve job done to replace any bad valve guides and seals. That way tou wont burn oil when you put the new motor in.

As far as all these other cars coming out. There will ALWAYS be something new coming out. If you love your car then work on that. If you really think that you want another car then get one. Remember that when you buy a new car, there goes all of your mod money on the car payments. Its up to you tho.

Good luck!

i will not try to front...i now little if not almost nothing on engines...the mec told me it sounds like my lifters are trashed from the loud ass knock coming from the block...with that said what do you think he might do as far as the rebuild?...he said 1200 to rebuild the thing...i was leaking hell of a lot of oil before this happend...so do i need to replace everything...he will build it with i would guess stock components right...what on that site do you think i might need?...and is it just like a straight throw the thing in there or more than that?...thanks for looking out

yeah i love my car...im glad she waited till she was paid off to crack on me...you are right the payments not being there is great...it just pisses me off to see some lil punk 16 yr old with a suped up wrx with a blow off you can hear for 6 blocks that mommy paid for...it makes me think why do i bother anymore...maybe i am just jelouse i work honestly for mine...

Fasterthanyou.com sells the "built" bottom-ends for our cars. Basically you get a block that you just swap in to your car. The block comes with forged pistons, forged connecting rods, etc etc to be able to handle boost. Its completely assembled. From there, just get the work done on the cylinder head to freshen it up. No need to buy performance parts for it since it was designed by Lotus.

Now you need to have a repair manual to help you along as well as someone who knows how to install a motor to make it go smoothly. Otherwise you have to get a shop to do it.

You are correct to assume that the shop will just rebuild with stock parts.

You can see if they will install a pre-built motor which should save some time and labor costs. Some shops will and some won't.
