I got this e-mail the day my unit was supposed to ship should have just gotten the HKS

Message from Peter Gargano (Tech Edge Pty. Ltd.)

Regarding your recent wideband order. Please ignore this
(form style) email if it now doesn't apply to you.

It's taken us a little while longer than we first
anticipated, but we have now started shipping version 2.0
pre-built wideband units. We don't have unlimited resources,
so it'll take us most of this week to get to all outstanding
orders. We're shipping in the sequence we received orders
and I'll ensure everyone we're shipping to is told when their
unit leaves here.

I'd like to personally apologise (well, yes, I know this is
a form letter) for the delay, but it was necessary to
resolve some issues we discovered at the last moment. I'm
sure you'll be happy with WBo2, and I hope you'll agree the
delay was ultimately worth it.

Right now we still don't have a lot of information for new
users of wideband units but we hope to get more info up on
the WBo2.com web site very soon. We'd like to think that
most users will simply take their unit out of the box, add
some power (connect it to a battery) and a sensor, and it
will all work perfectly. We know you'll have lots of questions
so remember that you can always ask on the yahoo Oz_DIY_WB
user group :

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oz-diy-wb/

Additionally, I'll try and update the information regularly on
our home page here :

http://wbo2.com/

.. to indicate the current status of firmware and additional
software (logging and calibration utilities, etc.).

It's important to remember that WBo2 is not a static product,
and we intend to keep developing it. This is possible because
the unit is mostly software based and has the ability to be
reprogrammed, allowing us to add features, or to tailor the
unit to specific installations or applications we had not
originally thought of. We also expect we have bugs in our
firmware that we'll fix, and you can re-flash (reprogram) your
unit to fix these bugs.

As with all new products, we expect there will be a few units
that will develop problems after we test and find them OK here.
This can be due to faulty chips (called infant mortality), or
other problems we didn't anticipate (version 1.5 had a problem with
the variable pots being mounted too close to the PCB, and this
cause the majority of warranty problems). We hope we've learnt
enough from version 1.0 and 1.5 to solve most of these problems,
but we're ready to back up our products by offering a 12 month
return to base warranty to the original purchaser. See :

http://techedge.com.au/warranty.htm

We also do repairs (for example, if you inadvertently run over
your WBo2 unit - we're serious, this does happen!), so we're
here to support you using your Tech Edge wideband unit, now, and
into the future.

I didn't want this email to be too long, so I hope I've covered
most of questions people ask. I'll also try and answer your
individual emails asking about the delivery of your order - I
apologise if this takes longer that you'd like, but we really have
been overwhelmed with a large number of new orders in the last three
weeks, and we still have a lot of documentation to write.

Regards,
Peter Gargano.
