Well Im the famous guy who did this swap, also the first.
Heres what you do, and what to look fors, and What could happen, and Precautions.
I spent $3,000 on this swap
First thing I did was
1)
Buy a non working 90 GST that got impounded for $900 (tranny wasnt working)
2)
Swap everything from it into your nt car.
easy as pie.
look fors
Make sure you get an local non known bodyshop to put the motor mounts in for you, measure correctly, make sure hood closes, cut chassis to make space for bigger 1gen tranny, use 1g turbo harness and 2g nt harness pay an electrician $500 bucks to do your electrical wiring like me, Make sure the car you buy aint messed up enough that you cant turn it on, on the spot.
What could happen:
Your Money could get jacked by mechanics if they end up giving up on the project, always pay after job is done, let them know thats how you conduct buisness and you will make a contract.
Measure Wrong on where motor mounts are suppose to go
Hood Wont Close
Cluster Won't Work
Axel pops off if you dont measure right
Engine aint straight so lots of tire wear
Precautions
1 too many electricians give up
Make sure none of your stuff gets damaged like rims, etc. or anything get jacked while ur car is down.
Don't let people know about your swap cause they might rat you out with popo's (in cali)
Pay after Job is Done!!!!
Or pay in parts while job is being done, make sure you visit your car and see that your car is being worked on, Take Pictures incase of anything before , during , and after. Have a witness with you when you make the deal with the mechanic on the swap, most mechanics say yes and end up not knowing how to do it... MOST IMPORTANT THING!!! PUT MOTOR MOUNTS ON CORRECTLY MEASURED RIGHT! If you get stuck with these basic instructions or need help feel free to contact me John on aim: SolarBlueEclipse or email me at [email protected] with subject Non turbo engine swap question. Good Luck Have fun! brrooom pssssh.
