hey i know you guys are probably gonna blast me for asking this but i have a 760 Volvo turbo and i was wondering if i could possibly use that turbo allong with other parts to fit on a 2nd gen n/t. I dont have alot of money so i'm just trying to look at all my options. Do you think it would be too much work? Any ideas?

How much fab work can you do on your own? If you have access to a milling machine and a knowledge of medium car assembly, the process could be very inexpensive and straight forward.

I found some interesting info on the motor that the 760T had, I can't find any specs on the Turbo itself. Seeing as the motor you would get the turbo from is a 2.3 L, I would venture that on your car you will have decent mid range boost, as the larger 2.3 had upper-low to lowe- mid range.

On the custom turbo kit... It can be done on your own. I only know about custom turbo kits in the VW community, but these guys have been building their own since 1.6 8v's, and smiling the whole way home.

You need a custom adapter to connect the turbo to the exhaust manifold that you have (hence the milling machine access), oil feed line, oil return line, water lines (if so fitted by Volvo), Intake pipe, upper and lower intercooler pipe, side mount intercooler, BOV, waste gate (if not internal on turbo), and a down pipe (which any competant muffler shop could build for less than $70).

You will need larger injectors, more aggressive cams and a fuel management system as you build boost. I would purchase a boost gauge and manual boost controller first ($100 combined) so you can keep boost down until injectors and fuel management can be afforded.

thanks alot. I was talking to one of my friends dad whose a mechanic and he tells me that it wouldnt be too hard, just alot of custom work. I'm not sure yet what im gonna do but we'll see

Interesting juxaposition of phraseology. I wonder at what level he figures custom work gets hard.

What make is the Volvo blower, a Garret?
