1st gen n/t to Turbo swap?

I was told all I would need is the engine tranny and wiring harness and I would have a gst?

Also can I drop the JDM Galant VR-4 RS motor into it? If I do would I use the GST turbo tranny or can it be fitted for FWD? Also how much hp can the stock n/t chassis handle same as a turbo or less?

PS I did a search and couldn't find to much specifics on this. I found a thread with it but no specifics.
 
the N/T 2.0 chassis is the same as the FWD turbo chassis in the 1st gen (same chassis code i believe). pricewise is where it doesnt seem worth it.

haha. for about $1500 you could have all the parts you need, but its best to try and find a wrecked dsm with all the parts you need in one place. i went from a 16.3 @ 83mph to a current best of 14.0 @ 104, seems worth $1500 to me. and i know the car has more potential in it than the 14.0 time.
 
Yeah. Basically get a wrecked DSM with all the engine complete and do a swap. Or just build the stock N/T motor for turbo. Thats what I am doing. Then later on im building my spare GST turbo block. 14.0 1/4 mavisky. Thats good. Isnt that on the 14b? I ran 15.7 1/4. With my 16G I should be mid 13's? If I have traction. And trust me. It will be worth doing the swap:thumb:

i ran the 14.0 on the 14b. the ported and clipped big 16g lived a short life due to a clogged oil feed line and never made it to the track since i had it on only during the winter. its still rebuildable though so expect it to return to the car sometime. but for now i'm going to try and hit mid 13's on this 14b with the 7cm exhaust housing.
 
Man im really looking forward to taking it to the track. So do you have any other aftermarket mods that really make a difference that wont harm your engine? I thought about getting a dp, uicp, and a bov.
 
i've got a slightly hacked mas, mbc, full exhaust, uicp, intake, fuel pump, injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, plug wires, 2g manifold, and a K&N filter. that's most of it i think. of course there's a lot of little things removed from the car such as the rear bumper, rear interior, and all of the air conditioning system.

Thanks for your replies but can some one answer that ^?

Also will I only need the motor tranny wiring harness and ecu?
 
a general rule is that everything in the engine bay of a gst needs to go into your car.

if you use an awd engine you'll need all fwd parts from the passenger side of the block over. that includes, tranny, axles, flywheel, (clutch won't matter so long as its a turbo clutch), and the backing plate for the engine that has the hole for the starter in it.
