Is there any way to put a turbo on my car? Are there any kits? How exspensive are they??

~Andrew~:laser:

Yes, there is most definately a way to put a turbo on your car, i did it :thumb:

there is only ONE kit available for the 1G and it comes in 2 stages...

TSI Superior and Extreme Turbo Kits

The Superior is 1700.00 and the Extreme is 2550.00 i believe.

There is a much cheaper way to had 6-10 lbs of boost to your car though...

14b or Small 16G turbo (with oil lines)
2G or Evo exhaust mani (the 1Gs are shitty and crack often)
02 Housing
Turbo Oil Pan
TSi/GS-T downpipe (optional but definately helps)
TSi/GS-T cat back exhaust (optional but definately helps)
T-Stat housing
SMIC with piping
TSi/GS-T/GSX intake plumbing
TSi/GS-T fuel pump (optional but definately helps)
Automatic TSi/GS-T injectors (optional but definately helps)
Injector resistor pack (controls lower impediance turbo injectors)
An SAFC-II would most definately be a wise purchase...you'll also need a boost gauge, boost controller, and EGT..oil press..fuel press..gauges wouldnt be a bad idea either.

That right there is what i had when my car was turbo, all of those parts except the SAFC-II. All of them were purchased for around 900 bucks...found them at various junkyards/online retailers/E-Bay. I also jacked quite a few of my parts from the junkyard as well though. An ACT-2100 is a must after more than a few months of boost because the NT clutch just cant handle the power. Your stock 9.0:1 pistons should have almost no problems all the way to 10 psi...i ran 10 psi daily and never encountered ANY knock problems. Past 10 psi i would recommend some Ross forged 9.0.1s and some Eagle rods.....let you push 15-17 psi easy. Turbo cams and cam gears are the only thing differentiating the T and NT heads so those are a nice addition further down the road. I think thats pretty much it, its not as hard as most people think to do the 1G NT - T transfer...many of the original NT parts can also be kept on up to 10 psi and thats a pretty zippy car at the 9.0.1 compression (close to 240hp!) Happy Turboing!

Thanks! But, sounds like to much work and I'm only 15. I'll keep it in mind for when I get older. :D

Forget what I posted earlier. I am seriously considering this now. I was thinking about getting my intake mani and head ported and polished. But that would just cost way to much for what little horsepower I would get. I found a few things on Ebay. 14b turbo. Intercooler piping. BOV flange and some other stuff. If I get a steady job when I turn 16 and bring in 300 every 2 weeks like my brother. I'll be able to start gathering parts. Then have our family mechanic help me install it all. I got some time to wait and gather more information on installing a turbo till I can get a decent job. And, I'll have to run this by my dad.

P.S. If someone wouldn't mind. E-mail a complete list of what I would need to [email protected] Along with any tips on what to buy and what a S-AFC is?? Anything else I would need to know about turboing my car? And any other mods I should do to insure safety? And an over all $$ estimate.

In that case, there are tons of threads on here about converting.

This one was found in the Tech Articles and is a great place to start. From there just go through and read every thread you can about non turbo to turbo. Don't rush into anything until you have read more information about turboing than you know what to do with(then read some more:D ).

K, thanks. I'm going to go buy a book on turbocharging supercharging and nitrous this weekend to study up on turbo's and stuff. And one quick question. Will the pistons from a 1g turbo swap into a 1g n/t w/o having to be fabricated at all?
