The engine bay in my 90 eclipse parts car is just about gutted except for the complete block. Still has all the internals. I can get a deal on new (Stock Turbo) pistons/rings for about $35 x 4. Have the block dipped Bore the cylinder's 20 over, polish the crank and add new bearings.

My only concern is the oil squirter's, the NA block doesnt have them, and I wanna run high boost, I dont feel like wasting all my time on a turbo'ed NA with 6psi. Can i run high boost (15-20 psi), and a solid block with this setup? Only thing missing is the oil squirters. I just wanna talk about the block here. Thanks

im not so sure you have to worry as much about the squirters as u do the acutal pistons. I run 10 psi daily on my stock 9.0.1's (which has me around 220hp...:D) and i check everyweek for signs of knock....and there is none to speak of....so im sure at least 15-16 psi wouldnt be a problem so long as u have the 8.5.1's. pushing past that might start to cause problems since there are no oil squirters...unless you can find a way to get some seriously cold air into the cylinders....

also, how much HP are you looking for? cuz my 9.0.1's are holding up to boost just fine and im loving the power output. if u invest in some forged 9.0.1's (which is what i want to do) and crank the boost to 11 or 12 psi, your gonna be sitting at 230-245 hp and theres no worries about the oil squirters cuz in actuallity you arent pushing THAT much boost. now if your looking for upwards of 250hp, high compression just isnt the answer, but then again you will have to be pushing way more boost since you are on the lower compression pistons which is gonna heat those non-oil squirting cylinders up real nice.

only if your looking for more than 15-16 psi and some big HP...otherwise save the trouble and stick with your NT block. you might even be able to push up to 20 psi on the NT block with lower compression pistons and no squirters. the 420a has no squirters and with a stage 3 or 4 kit you can push upwards of 400HP. Im just not exactly sure HOW much those squirters help in keeping the pistons cooled, but im thinking the squirters are more of an added saftey precausion than they are a neccessity. hope this helps.

sounds like im gonna stay with the nt block since i already have it. Im looking for a 225-250 hp range. Going with a bore job and new turbo internals, on the stock big rods.

Anyone else want to give me some input on this?

nt block will be fine, just get some manly pistons in there. obviously anything forged will be good. but remember that in order to run big boost you need big fuel. hell i used to run 18psi out of the 14b everyday on my turbo block, a forged engine should have no problems. even stock turbo pistons in there would be fine so long as you got them the fuel they wanted.

I AM running 18psi on my 14b right now on a n/t block with turbo pistons and NO SQUIRTERS. :p

15psi, you are bordering air/fuel ratio for no knock. I'd try to at least pick up a 3si fuel pump. They are cheap and run 180lph approx. Enough to boost you up to 18psi if you felt like it.

I put in brand new turbo pistons with the new rings. New bearings all around. Reconditioned and balanced the rods. All done by machine shop.

Set me back $1200CDN funds. Done by a reputable shop. Crank was fine as is. May need to be reconditioned but I doubt it if the motor was from a n/t. It's all based on what the shop says needs to be done. Not me.
