Not trying to be nosey but i almost would give my kidney for a turbo.LOL but the question is how did you guys purchuse your kits? i have a job and all but i've tried to get credit cards before and no one will give me one that i have found. did you guys just save the money or what seems i probably could had one with the money i have had in the past but i seem to spend it. any ideas would help thanks

well, i basically saved all of my money that wasnt spent on expenses (gas, insurance, car pmt, car maintenance, cell phone, etc...) and put it towards a turbo kit. it took me 6 months to save it up.

i have thought about the sell drugs thing before. My luck i would get busted. Could i sell my body to science? like davo345 said probably have to save, save, save. thanks for the replies

Yea, I hate those f0ckin credit card companies...they won't give me a damn unsecured credit card:mad:

Just work a ton and save. If you want it bad enough you will have it.

Ahhh, it's so nice to be turbo :D Every time I hear the turbo start spooling I smile.. I don't think that will ever cease. I've loved turbocharged cars for years, but until last year I never thought to put one on my N/T. As soon as I found out it is very possible I dropped all of the plans I had towards body work and paint and just started saving every penny to go turbo - took about 6 months with the money I already had saved. I had to take out a small loan after installing the kit to purchase a few things I needed to help my fuel system.

If you honestly can't wait to go turbo and don't mind paying interest rates, take out a personal loan at a credit union or bank. If you don't have a credit history behind you see if your mom or dad or a relative will cosign. This is still iffy if you are young, most parents would despise their kid going into debt while making their car go faster and think it would lead to tickets or a racing accident (which it can if you're not a responsible person).

Start saving. Because it's sooo damned worth it :thumb:

Graduation money (not much) plus working 2 jobs this summer. Everyone was buying their mods all summer, I had to resist doing ANYTHING to my car for 4months, almost 5months now (got the cash, just waiting for the best price)

I resisted a body kit and new paint job- Gotta have priorities, turbo 1st.

My view exactly. I will enjoy DRIVING better every day, if my car makes a nice sound and has some go, as aposed to just LOOKING like it SHOULD have balls, but is still slow.

Also the motivation of, people thinking your just talking all kinds of BS when you claim your going to turbo... then when I finally get to roll up w/ the BOV salute... how much they'll freak out in disbeleif/

hehe...i havent even told ANYONE except my close crew. people are gonna be shocked when i roll up w/ my bov salute. sakldfjsadf...gives me the chills just thinking about it. i hate just staring at that turbo sitting on my workbench while waiting for other parts to arrive. BAH!

damn you guys are making it worse. LOL how would i go about getting the loan? i got my car financed on my on when i was 19 but i don't know about a loan. did you have a cosigner? i want it so bad i thought about going custom but not sure. i could probably have the money in 3 months but to me thats a long time. by the way i'm 20 if that helps.

If you can't wait the three months then you're best bet is a personal loan through a credit union. A standard bank might do this but they are very stingy about amounts, and the interest rates will probably keep you awake at night. They will probably look at any existing loans or ones in the past. If you have always been on time with your payments and payed more than the minimum amount - you're credit history is probably excellent. If you were late several times they might look down on that, and probably ask you to find a cosigner with good credit.

The personal loan for my fuel components and tuning costs was my first loan, so my dad cosigned. It would feel too weird asking anyone other than my family to cosign. I would still suggest saving, you can look at the time it takes as simply more preperation time to plan your supporting modifications out. Hope to see (w/turbo) on your ride someday :dsm:

God, the sound is f**king incredible. A hundred times better than I had imagined it sounding. Make sure if you go Star you ask for the fully open wastegate dump tube. This makes the turbo the loudest thing on the car, everything the turbo is doing can be heard, even while music is playing at a medium volume. When I reach full boost the sound just rips and is way meaner than my friends LS1+Exhaust V8 - scares a lot of people because it's such a violent and sudden sound.

As soon as I can get a decent camcorder that can transfer into my computer through firewire I will get some videos of my car in action. If everything works out maybe even a 10psi pull against my friend's modded Z28 :D Now if only there was a place that rented out video cameras...

I ordered mine through one of the original resellers (or the original), Wyatt Leras. He gave me the open wastegate option, and I'm so glad I opted for it.
