Currently i have a 1992 mitsubishi eclipse 1.8L sohc. It has 276,000 miles on it, and smokes. so i figured while i am getting a new engine put on it, i may as well upgrade. Mainly because i wanted to get into drag. i need to know what all i need to do it... i know i need a new transmition, and ecu. but i need to know if they have trans for fwd, instead of awd for it. and if the current drivetrain will be able to withhold the stress.

you'll only be able to use the fwd transmission in your car unless you want to build a custom floor pan and rear suspension for the driveshaft to clear and the independent rear suspension to mount up to.

i only know of a few people who have replaced their 1.8 with the 2.0nt and i know of noone who's put in a 2.0 turbo into one. my guess is that for an nt 2.0 (130hp) you'll be looking at near $3000 for parts unless you can get a monster deal. for the 2.0 turbo (195 hp) you'll be looking at probably $4000 or so.

ok, so lets say i already have a 2.0 turbo engine, and a turbo fwd tranny, what else will i need

ecu
wiring harness
mounts
downpipe
mas
fuel pump
plug wires
side mount ic
ic piping
bov
new guage cluster (to ditch the 6k redline tach)

i'm sure there's a few others i can't think of off the top of my head since i just got off work at 2am :(

ok, so, even though i got the engine and the tranns, it would still be cheaper just to get a salvage turbo eclipse, and take the parts from it???

The whole system would need to be changed. Even the 1.8 Transmission is lower geared, and I am not sure if the spline is even the same. The spline if I remember right on the 2.0 4G63 is 22. Good luck on the swap, even the turbo project is hard.
