How much boost can I handle?

Miami,
I wanted to know how much boost can a stock 4g63 non-turbo cyclone engine handle without changing the internals? My car is at the shop right now getting that engine installed and an ACT 2600 clutch kit. The guy told me he can do a setup for my car with a t3/t4 turbo kit with a big FMIC and upgraded fuel management and make the car do low to mid 13's for about $5K with custom intecooler pipes and exhaust manifold made by them ( Dynamic Turbo in Miami ) and proper tuning.

#1.Can this really be done without blowing the internals?
#2. Is that a reasonable price?

I know they do a good job because my cousin just had a turbo kit installed on his '01 Prelude with them and he's 100% satisfied so far.

You can run 12s with a 16g turbo. You should be able to run a t3/t4 at about 18-20psi without worrying about the internals as long as you get it tuned. Just make sure you dont forget about upgrading the fuel system.

ok i'm going to ask you to refrain from replying until you do some more research.

your nt engine would probably survive about 9-10 psi. the botttom line is that if you're going to blow $5000 on all this shit drop the the fmic (you won't need it really bad) and pick up the stock sidemount, a 16g, and a turbo ecu.

the best thing to do would be to tell them to stop whatever it is they're doing and instead of putting in the nt engine to drop in a turbo engine. hell maybe you could get your hands on one of big len's old race engines since dynamic is their sponsor.

either way $5000 could easily get you 13's, but only if you use a better ecu setup and internals.

check out one of the threads about turboing your nt in either one of these threads.

installing the turbo engine into your nt

The thing is that I got that engine really cheap and the swap to a turbo engine was gonna cost too much for me right now plus the added cost of the turbo engine. I decided to go with a big FMIC because I plan to build up the engine by phases and I figured i would need it later on. But in you opinnion, what would you do then?

i'd install the nt engine for now, then save up some money and throw the internals in there. the rest of the block is identical so that would bring you back to a safe level since its the nt pistons that are the weakness in your equation.

as for the fuel system if you don't want to swap over the turbo ecu, i guess you could look into something like the aem ecu (although at $1200 i gotta think you'd rather swap over the turbo ecu) or a standalone. a local friend ran a 14b on his nt without the turbo ecu and using a s-afc, but it never ran right and he eventually took it back apart and bought a driveline-less awd laser to put the turbo hardware into.

you had it in the nt forum, not the nt-turbo conversion forum, no big deal. keeps me busy.:)
