i didnt kno where to really post this so i just put it here
anyways the time has come for me to buy a car and i pretty much dediced on a 2G DSM. My question is how reliable is a 420A with a turbo kit on it. the guy said he has the boost at 8psi and the kits has been on there for a year.
any help is welcome. thx

Deponds on you if you dog it all the time it won't last you a long time mine has been bosted for about 2 years now and I have no problem you just have to take care of your car and not baet it up all the time and it will last and do basic maintenice. and you will have no problems.

remember, honestly, its not "will my car be reliable?" , its "how long will my car be reliable?"

furthermore, i think the people that have turbo kits on their 420a and have last for more than a year, don't really beat on their car, don't race, or something of that nature.

But what if u followed the guidelines on the tuning guide, wouldn't that make ur 420A more durable and able to handle the turbo??

Your engine will go when it goes. Every motor will go sometime regardless of any other factor. Every motor will need to be rebuilt sooner or later. That being said, I beat the shit out of my car at 8psi on the star kit for over a year, and put 25-30,000 miles on it in that time. I had no problems except for the head gasket, which was chryslers screw up not mine. I raced at the track, on the street, and beat on it daily even if I was not racing. (passing people with the BOV salute, or haul ass past them so they know your not happy they did 5 under the speed limit on that one lane road you were on, etc. etc.) My car was still at 205 across the board for comp, the same as the day I put it on. It is a crap shoot with these motors, but if you have taken care of it well and continue to do so while turbo'd, and DON"T #### UP, it should last you just as long as it would have. But you have to remember that you have to be very very religous about your checking and maintance of the car when you are boosting. Things you don't think about can cause a failure too though, like piston rings and landings, injector pluses, things you can't see or measure the reilability of. So you have to take all this into account as well. But to make sure I'm clear here, some people have no problems, and some have a lot you can't always judge by someone elses experiences when it comes to cars, cause no two are alike. My grand father used to say that if it was built on a monday of a friday don't buy it because they were looking forward to the weekend or hungover from it. Point is you didn't build the car so you don't know how well it was done or to what tolerences blah blah blah. Nobody knows when it will go, it may run like that for years, or 1 day. The only thing to do with a limited amount of saftey is do a comp test, do a leakdown test, (to tell you if you have any ring problems or HG issues) replace the injectors and fuel filter and give it a try.

Well i put my HRC Stage II kit on last May and i was running around 7 psi everyday. 7 psi gets old after awhile when all your freinds are running 18-25 psi and kickin the shit out of you.. well not that bad but as I was sayin.. i got a manual boost controller and boosted it up to 10 psi. Man what a diff.. The one thing I really hadnt paid to close attention to was the injectors.. My FPR told me my car was running phat as hell but apparenlty that wasnt the case.. I was rollin at 120 mph in full boost for about 30 seconds(which was normal) and next thing i knew.. SMOKE!! All over the place from under the hood.. Guess what it was.. DETONATION MY FRIEND!!! #2 piston took a nice dinger from the piston wall and blew the head gasket.. GET BIGGER INJECTORS!!!!! If you are gonna run at about 8-10 and drive it hard like you know you are gonna do anyways.. get atleast a 310 cc injector to help fuel the boost. 6-7 psi can easily run stock injectors with no prob.. even run phat.. but once you go much higher than that you could easily run into some problems that will cost you a pretty penny. So my advise is to atleast upgrade your injectors so you dont have as much worry. You will have a blast with the kit on let me tell ya.. just start to save your coin so you can build the bottom end.. Has anyone with the bottom end kryotreated their cranks? That is the only thing that i need to think about doin as we speak. Motor is in the shop buildin the bottom. Anyways.. happy driving and get a nice loud BOV!! THEY KICK ASS!!! :p
