So I have decided that once I get my rebuilt engine dropped in my 97 GS (soon!), that I am going to start buying parts piece-by-piece (damn you minimum wage!) for my turbo build. I am not going for anything crazy (6~9psi) being as this car is, and will be, my daily driver, even though this is a rebuilt engine. I have compiled a basic list of parts off of the top of my head to being my turbo parts pile:

- Turbo (obviously) not sure on trim yet...
- Log style turbo manifold (w/ external wastegate bung)
- Turbo manifold downpipe
- Wategate
- BOV
- Intercooler piping/couplers/clamps
- FMIC
- 420a oil pan w/ oil line bung
- Oil return/exit lines
- Gauges (boost psi, oil temp, A/F ratio?)

Then at this point I have been pondering on the thought of FMU's, FPR's, and FCD's on which one's that I will really need for an 8lb build. I'm not going for MegaSquirt or anything like that, because as I stated before, this will not be anything crazy, just my fun daily driver.

If I have left anything out that you 420a-T guys think I will need, let me know. I am here to listen and learn. Thanks,

(EDIT): The main purpose of this thread is that I'm asking advice on what I will need for my build. I specifically want info on the fuel management systems like 12:1 FMU's etc. and I would like to know of some advice on some FCD's or "missing links" that I would need for a daily driving 6~8lb build. Thanks -eSCAPEist_

For your turbo, id grab a turbonetics T3 super 60 with the .48 a/r housing. Its what I had on my 95 when I had it. It had great spool time compared to the other turbos I had (57 and 50 trim t04e). While you're rebuilding, do yourself a favor and build the block for boost....speaking from experience here.

If you're interested in that turbo, treadstone has it for a great price.

Thanks man, I'll check it out.

I have all the parts you need I can sell you if you are interested. The whole kit actually.

One of the most important parts of going turbo is choosing the right fuel system. It doesn't look like you have given this much thought either. Dont go cheap on this or you will regret it later and probably be looking at another rebuild as well. You will need a fuel pump for sure. A Walbro 190 will do fine. I would skip the 12:1 FMU and get the SFMU with some 310cc injectors. Lower your base pressure and use the right rise rate combo and that will be a great fuel system that will be able to supply more than enough fuel. Also get a wideband for sure and an oil pressure gauge.

Fuel is Very important, but as for a wally 190, Um, no.. A wally 255 is what you want.. The rest is advisable.

I would just like to point out that a fmu, fcd and wally 225 are REQUIRED on a 8psi build. Also one of the stickies in this turbo area... infact the first sticky, covers all this information along with places to buy from and what works the best. For trim rate and turbo size engine internals and goals/plans on what you want are needed.
