I've got a guy here in Denver, on Craigslist that has a MHI 16G turbo that needs a rebuild. He's taking best offers, what should I offer him. I know rebuild kits are about $80 (If i'm looking at the right thing) I dont want to screw myself in the long run.

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Depending on damage $75-$150 is a typical price for a blown 16g.

So if I can get it for like $50 i'm set. I was planning on getting a new turbo that would I would be able to take advantage of when I finished my build on my other motor. I spent hours and hours reading about flow and everything and realized I would be wasting my money putting a nice turbo on my stock block. So until then... Used here I come! Thanks guys

Unless you have a custom turbo manifold, that turbo is useless to you. And even then, if you have the ability to have a custom turbo mani. made, why T25/28? There are many more options with t3 as far as flow is concerned. To each his own mate, I'm just curious...

Not necessarily. There are options.

  • I've seen DSM-flanged 420A manifolds before. It would probably take some funky clockwork of the housings, but it would fit I'm sure.
  • They make T3-turbo-to-DSM-manifold adapters....I'm sure these could work in reverse as well.
  • I have a couple T3-flanged 10cm turbine housings here that I'd be willing to trade if the DSM-flanged 7cm housing that comes on the turbo is crack-free. That would allow this turbo to bolt to any T3-flanged manifold.

I make my own manifolds so that isnt an issue.

All going 'round your elbow to get to your..... Get a LOG and a used garrett.
