Did anybody with a turbo kit, with a front mount intercooler ever have any engine problems running 9psi of boost or less such as a cracked piston, blown gasket or any possible thing that could have gone wrong. I just want to see if it's likely that something could go wrong after getting the turbo kit.

i think my head gasket is leaking a little, but its not bad and im not worried about it. just make sure you are running with the proper fuel pressure and you aren't running lean and you have a 2.5" exhaust (at least).

you should also go head and get the hahn/excel 310cc injectors. i have found them to help quite a bit.

my stock injectors were cracking and heating up after the turbo kit was put on.

I have a 2.5 inch exhaust... how much are the injectors... thanx for the info and thanx again for that sound clip you posted for me.

i melted all 4 pistons when i was racing my eclipse which has a star stage 2. my boost was set at 7psi somehow boost went up to 14psi and my car pealed out 3rd gear and WHAM my engine diead oil was everywhere thats the only problem i encounted.

As just about everyone that has turbo'd a 420A will tell you, it's not a matter of IF it will let go but WHEN. There have been a few freak occurences that have gone for seemingly forever without cracking a piston or ring land, but pretty much anyone that is Stage 2 has. I made it about 12,000 miles before mine let go, some willsay it wasn;t tuned etc etc, it was tuned to perfection, bottom line is that the stock internals will only hold out with boost for so long before they let go on you. It's a fact of life. If you have the cash I strongly suggest doing the bottom end rebuild whiloe your doing the turbo installo, and if you haven't swapped over to the MLS headgasket, then for sure you wanna do that first, and while your that far in you might as well do the rebuild also.

How much boost were you runnin?

I've been running 12psi personally on a T4 for oh at least a year now, with no problems, but just to be on the safe side I do run a weeee bit rich. However, please don't let me fool you, the pistons and rods on this car suck major *** and I HIGHLY suggest replacing them.

6 PSI with an occasional spike to 8. Nothing drastic and I kept it a wee bit on the rich side also just to be safe. But I didn't put the kit on until I had 110K on the car either so that might have a wee bit to do with it. Oh well, she did me proud and now will do even better once the rebuild is done :thumb:
