The Hahn kit comes with a lot of stuff for turboing my rs, but what else do I need to do it, and approx. how long will it take? Is it something I can put in about 12 hours? Im pretty ok working on the car so I have some faith in myself. Major question is does it come with boost gauge, bov, ic, piping etc.

the kit is complete aside from gauges mentioned above, but most people would recommend junking quite a few parts in exchange for better ones, ie inline pump for a walbro 255, and craptech fpr for a vortech sfmu or fmu, and the black box for the missing link, barring no issues you can do it in 12 hrs, but there will most likely be something that holds you up, getting the stock downpipe off of the cat took me quite a bit of time, also if you don't have access to a welder you may want to search for an oil pan already tapped to save you some time or have someone do it for you ahead of time, many of the things can be done before the actual turbo install too, fuel system, tapping oil pan, installing gauges.

Do not forget things like, lots of oil, and coolant, and wd40 and Brake cleaner.
Also fillup on high octane (91-94) before the turbo install. YOu'd be suprised at how many people forget this part and when they go to start her up after hours of installing it doesn't run exactly right. Just do it before hand and you won't have to worry about it. I filled up on it about 2 tanks before I turbo'd my ride.

also might want to consider replacing all of the vacuum lines under the hood.
any small hole will be a boost leak
if yours are like mine when i turbod they were the ones that came on the car and found out the hard way that they had some cracks

if you plan on using the hahn downpipe that comes with the kit and not the 3" you might want to consider a band clamp to connect their pipe to your downpipe

you have to cut yours and attach theirs over it. mine leaked until i got some exhaust repair tape wrapped it and then sealed it with a band clamp

since you are running some fuel stuff anyway
might want to consider a new fuel filter while you are at it

what are you going to do about a BOV
the hahn kit comes with one from the 3000gt
that from what i have seen is the first to go
the greddy type s is popular but you have to get the new mounting flange and have itwelded to the pipe

well im not too worried about the bov right now, that can always be changed, major concern is getting it done in time because i usually only have 1-2 days off work or school in a row, and if I dont have it done, im screwed

also, how much hp do you think i can pull out of my 420a without a rebuild, everything is stock.

check out the hahn site
they are claiming about 275 at the crank with their stage 2 kit and stock internals
i wouldnt take that number as a certainty but you should be close

yea 275 with the kit only or with other mods?, would an exhaust, intake headers, and a good tune put me at 300?

Bench racing is a great way to get this thread closed, fellas. Drop the "How much horsepower" bullshit and get back to installing it. You're getting the kit. You're going to install it. You're going to be faster than you ever though you could be. Then you're going to get used to the power, turn up the boost "just a little bit," pop something, and come whining about how the car is a piece of shit.

At least, that's how most kids do it.

ROFL ROFL , Yeah thats usually what happens.

If you want to get most of the things installed and ready to go, I'd put litle things on like the intercooler, do some fo the piping and install BOV, and turbo to manifold.

You could probably do your gauges etc.

So just try to get that stuff out of the way when you get your kit, and then I'd work day and night getting it all done or put together, star it up see where your at, go sleep for a few hours, come back and fix whatever problems you have.

Damn straight, it is. I mean, I'm just as guilty of wondering how super-fantastical things will be when I have this installed or that installed, but to talk about horsepower as if it plays some part in the decision, especially when such discussions are prohibited in the interest of not making everyone a stupid ricer, is retarded imo.

:rocks:

Yeah I love telling my friend with his Auto GSX to put a sock in it, when he tells me he's got like 350hp with a greddy 18G and intercooler and some other fuel mods, but when we mob on the highway I've got 193whp, and I'm keeping up just fine if not I'm out ahead. I told him, I'll belive him when I see a dyno sheet, I've got mine to prove it. So I think I'm gonna get him to go down to torque freaks one of these days just so he can have something concrete to say, no more BS out of his mouth.

You know, I have a friend with dyno slips to back it up running a similar set up in a 1G GSX. So I don't doubt the claim until you're on the street. If he is full of shit, he certainly did some homework. LOL

That's a great set up. In fact, I'll be doing something similar this winter: 1G rods, 2G pistons, ported 18G, 660s, Keydiver, SAFC, and a MBC. I don't care what it puts down. I know it will be fun. ;)

Oh you would have doubted it, if you watched his car run 15's at the track. It was halarious, no tuning no nothing. He finally bought a SAFC to play around with and we did some baseline stuff, and we got him in the low 14's, he should be in the 13's pretty soon, but you gotta understand that he just spouts off numbers without realizing that he can't get it all to the ground, or doesn't realize the importance of tuning. I'm trying to get him on dsmlink and a wideband. Because right now, his air/fuel gauge is hooked up incorrectly and allways reads stoich.
It just bothers me when someone starts saying I've got "XXX" horsepower and nothing to back it up with. I guess its cause I've had a lot of people tell me my dyno numbers are weak, and then they talk about their car with nothing to back it up.

I didn't mean to turn it into a bench race, just wondering what kind of power I am going to have after the install. I will be installing it piece by piece, starting with the fuel pump and gauges, then working around finding how and where I want my intercooler mounted, and customizing the pipes. The final step would be very easy bolt on, simply unbolt the old manifold, downpipe and intake, and install the new manifold, turbo, downpipe. The Intercooler should be attached to the car already and the piping just needs to get put in. That is the only way I think I can get the turbo into my car as I use it nearly every day.
