Heres whats goin on.. Ive got a 95 esi talon.. Im rebuilding it this summer, and along with the rebuild im thinking of adding a turbo. The only thing that's probably going to hold me back; the cost. But since im here, I need some advice as to what kind of turbo i should get, i know theres a star stage 1 and 2 kit, and a hahn stage 1 and stage 2 kit. And i know you get what you pay for. The star is cheaper but it probably isnt as good as a hahn. Ok, and another thing im wondering about, fmic or smic? I know im probably asking too many questions, but this is the last one. With purchasing all lines and hoses etc.. what would be the approximate cost of turboing my car?
:talon:

If cost is holding you back, I'd suggest going the custom route, and just make sure you have everything that a kit comes with and do lots of research.

As for which kit is better. I went with the star kit because it came with the fmic and I didn't have to pay an extra $400 for it. Front mount is always better in my opinion.

As for stage 1 or stage 2. I'd suggest running right with a stage 2 since your building your motor up, and with an intercooler you can run higher boost numbers.
If your building the motor stage 1 shouldn't even me an option in my opinion. Side mount or front mount is up to you though.

I've got a star kit and I'm loving it. I just need a flex pipe, boost controller, and to get tuned and I'll be happy till I can afford a rebuild.

Just because the star kit is cheaper, doesnt make the hahn kit better. The extra price you pay for the hahn kit just comes with the customer support. If you buy a star kit, you are kindof on your own. As a matter of fact, a lot of people like the star because of the t3 it comes with. But to be perfectly honest with you, once you buy either the hahn or the star, you will end up replacing a good percentage of the pieces in the kit anyway. I have a pretty much custom kit, and i love it.. but i also have seen the star stage 2, and thats a nice kit also. Either way, hahn, star, or custom, youre going to love the car when it goes vvvrrroooommmm ppsshhh! :thumb: good luck, sorry for the long post

you mean it comes with a t3/t4? well anyways, the price does not equal quality. you get customer service with hahn for that extra price. but when it comes down to the actually parts in the kit, the star kit is way better imo. the star kit has a bigger turbo, external wastegate, bigger better downpipe(altho its still not perfect), a FMIC with the stage 2 without paying extra, an HKS BOV instead of the crappy 3000GT stocker. there is other things i cant remember. but i would go star over hahn anyday, if i would buy a kit.

You can do that? OMG CUSTOM??? :shhh: :p

LOL well he said he was looking at the hahn or star kits, so i figured if he was gonna get a kit i would give him my opinion on the kits. of course i would recommend custom route over either of them because it is much much cheaper but i dont know what his abilities are.

Yea didnt think about takin the custom route. LOL it was late when i posted this thread. Yea i think ill just scout for some parts n such.. But yea i seen where you boosted your eclipse for under $1000, OMG thats just insane. But thanks for the input. When i get the parts for the rebuild and everything. I'll keep posting my progress. And again, thanks.
