:talon: ok i have a 96 esi and im wondering if the hahn race craft stage 2 turbo kit is good for the money because i dont wanna spend 3500 to get it and find out that its crap if anyone has this thing could you please let me know on how the install went and misc info like that
the same goes with the start stage 2 i noticed that its a little cheaper but will it do as well or even better??? let me know thanx :talon:

no offense but do a search, however i will help you out a lil. i am building a custom kit just so i can get what i want. Hahn guys are gonna say hahn is the best bet, star guys say star is the best kit. here is a thingy i found on www.2gnt.com that gives you some pretty good pros and cons on both kits from a non-biased point of view. just check out the attachment. As far as custom turbo kits, they take alot of research and some skill in fabrication, those are the cons. Pros are you get whatever pieces you want and can save some money if you research :thumb:

your welcome, and just be for warned, some guys on this site can be real @ss holes, when you dont search, they get all pissy and panties in a bunch and such. But good luck with your endeavor.

some guys can run more than 8psi, he is just recommending that to keep it safe. check your compression and then decide your boost. generally, higher the boost on a n/t without a built bottom end means a shorter life for the motor, youll have an even shorter life if your compression isnt up to par.

:talon: i dont have anything really to check the compression but do u think that it would be bad on a car with approx 70xxx?? :talon:

My advice to you. if you want to run more than 8 lbs of boost... just go to howwell or somewhere that does the block rebuild, get forged internals, and some big injectors, and an sfmu and boost away! but with stock internals DO NOT boost over 8, it wont last at all!

i honestly dont know, im doing both at the sametime. build up your motor and im unsure of the results of running lower compression without boost. Put on the turbo, and you can run some boost. Just find a way to check yoru compression. If you cant do both at the same time(turbo and rebuild) and yoru compression is good accross the board, i woudl run a lil boost then save up for the rebuild. But that is just my opinion, i am not an expert in anyway.

:talon: its ok dont worry about it right now im trying to fix the little problems with my car like the tie rods and stuff but this summer im planning on to work a hell a lot and save up to get the star stage 2 kit so hopefully ill be boostin pretty soon!!! :talon:

:talon: thanx for the help ppls im pretty sure that im gonna go with the star kit and for the people that have put this kit on what kind of tools do you reccemend :talon:

Build a custom kit, I bought a star kit paid alot..something like 2700..replaced most of the kit and still replacing...the damm thing didn't even work right after installing...the walbro fuel pump and FMU is suppose to work on this kit but it's not....more money I have to spend the straighten this out. Really look at the parts in a kit, I'm kicking myself in the ass for buy this kit. For what I have in it with replacing parts and now rebuilding block I'll save you the trouble rebuild your block if you can do it yourself it really doesn't cost that much, then piece together your kit. There are alot of answer here in the forum of what you need to build a kit. I wish I would have done the research and built my own kit. You can rebuild your block and build a kick ass turbo kit for around 4k if you shop and piece together wisely.

a friend and i installled a hahn kit the only problems we had were the fuel pump the book kept refering to was a in tank fuel pump and they sent me a in line pump??? wasnt sure what to do so we just stuck it right behind the fuel filter but really the rest was easy...ok well easy isnt the word im looking for but it wasnt rocket science. dont know ANYTHING about the star kit so cant say anything about that...all i know is the hahn kit is pretty complete and if you have any problems with it they will help you as much as the can. for example i blew a diaphram in the fuel pressure regulator and they gave me the number the manufacture of the fpr which offered to replace it or help me fix it. i thought that was cool of em well good luck...and it this helps you i would go to a junk yard buy a block and build that engine and keep your car running. wish i would have thought of that before i started :thumb:

:talon: yea i dont know what to do cuz when comparing them i liked the star kit better but from the sounds of it the hahn is easier to install and stuff like that if anyone has anymore info on the star stage 2 let me know thanx :talon:

Take the instructions from the Hahn/STAR kit and piece your own turbo kit together and it will cost less and you will have better parts

ya what he said. ill have a very in depth write up for a cheap(under $1000) 420a turbo kit. its really simple if you just do your homework and spend hours upon hours upon hours of searching. right now my car's oil pan is right next to the car LOL and im installing a vortech fmu and walbro 255 tonight. there will be lots of pics to. tomarrow i finish making my manifold.

^^^^^^$1000, are you usin alotta used parts?????? cause it cost me 4 but i got alot of unnecessary things, like MS and a 8.6:1/long rod bottom end.

ummm yea i dont think MS and bottom end rebuild are on my list LOL. the only used parts im using are turbo, bov, and intercooler. the rest is new.

if you actually look at the parts you get in a turbo kit, you could buy all those parts for less then half the price. you pay for them putting it all together for you. thats why i wont buy a kit
