I searched and found some hits but no one left a reply, so here it goes again. Anyone know of the quality of turbos that www.turbocalculator.com does??? i know they are rebuilds and that is why they are so cheap. But im curious as to if they are quality rebuilt turbos. I know you get what you pay for, but...... just curious?

Justin

I haven't heard or read anything bad about their turbos yet. I was very close to getting one of their custom T3 turbo kits until...I noticed that their manifolds are made by stone racing, aka ssautochrome! :barf:

Im just looking at the turbos, building my own manifold, thanks for the info

there are mixed opinions on SSautochrome, some people have had no problems at all with their manifolds while others have had problems with the welds cracking. I dunno why some have and some havent, but i would go with someone elses manifold because i wouldnt wanna take the chance of the welds being faulty.

I have seen alot of turbo cars that have tueblar manifolds like those and they seem to all crack when I talk to them.

But alright

then who else makes an equal lenght manifold for the 420a because I have only found that one

There have been whole threads about the quality of ssautochrome products. I'm sure you'll be able to find some if you do a search, that way you can make your own informed decision.

As for other manifolds, you can check out thestreetsource.net. Haven't heard anything bad about them, and that's who i'm going through. :thumb:

hmm, my bad. Mike at thestreetsource is currently developing a new setup for the 420a. I'm not sure if it will still contain a log-style manifold or if he's doing something new. He should be close to done though. I'll make sure to post if it's any different once if becomes available.

yeah my thread definately just got jacked :thumbdown back to the topic mentioned, are turbocalculator.com rebuilt turbos good stuff?

hahaha, my fault...I thought I was still talking to the same person, man I'm dumb :shhh:

Ive been looking at all the options for my turbo kit and ive come across that site (TurboCalculator.com). My friend bought a t3 setup similar to what that site offers, rebuilt turbos. Man, does he wish he just bought a new one. Ends up the rebuilt was rebuilt alright, funny that they dont specify when. After contacting them, they said they could not help him. Ended up overhauling it himself. Which costed him as much as just getting a brand new turbo.
