I want to put the onyx rear bumper on my 99 gs n/t. it has cut outs for 2 mufflers, i am also planning on putting a turbo kit on. i was going to get custom exhaust so i would have both cut outs filled in cuz it just looks better. what size piping should i run? i was going to run 3'' if i did a single exhaust but should i cut it down to like 2.50 or 2.25 since ill have duals ? of course they wont be true duals i was just gonna run it from the cat back unless theres someone that has a better idea..... has anyone done this or know someone with this setup ?????? please gimme some advice :D

I had a borla on my stealth that used a 3" pipe from the downpipe to the exhaust Y in the rear then the pipe's went to 2.5", sounded awsome! You could always do something like that not sure if anyone else has tried this on a DSM(I'm sure they have b/c everything imaginable has been done to these cars) except for my idea of a DSM gyrocopter

j/k about the gyrocopter

i did the same thing except my car is a first gen. i ended up going with 2.5 piping to two dnx mufflers(it splits after the rear axle.) at first i had just a straight through cat, but it ended up being too loud so i added a resonator. before i kept killing head gaskets, it sounded awesome and filled my kit perfectly.

To actually answer the question to the poster of this thread, if you're going to preserve the inner diameter of the dual pipes, you're going to need to split the 3" piping into 2 1.5" pipes, each have a 9.42" area, and splitting to 1.5 will give you the same area. You may want to go up a little to account for the restriction the mufflers will introduce. A 3" exhaust on an NT is going to have horrible low end response until you get that turbo on there. I suggest gathering all you need together for the turbo conversion and installing it at once. That is if you MUST have dual exhausts on the car.

Couple questions then. How can you be show and go if you don't have a single decent timeslip? Making 337hp with a 400+hp turbo is not impressive when you consider the amount of money spent to get there. There are guys making the same hp on EVO 16G turbos. Also how can you consider yourself a "go" car when your running a 14b on a FWD? There are tons of cars on here that are show cars and neither you nor siueclipse really fit that category. Sure you both have clean cars with nice paint but that does not constitute a "show" car. In fact you probably should not have chimed in here because your car is actually a lot more "rice" than siueclipse has.

Once again, your cars might be "nice" but there are a lot of factors that drop you both into the rice category.
I'm sorry. You seem to have the impression your opinon on a BANNABLE topic (i.e. rice) matters. You may want to have that checked out.

Stay on topic folks.

I dunno how strickt things are out where you are but if you have duel exhaust around here, the PO PO will be all over your ass.-I have a story to vouch for this!

About 40+ dsm's cruisin the streets after a meet. All of us in a single file line. We all come to a stop light about to flip a U turn. Well the dork leader decides to peel out as he's making the u-turn. As i come up to make the turn, i see a motorcycle cop just waiting for the last one of us to turn (me) to get them. He turns on his lights and which one does he pull over? The one in the middle of the pack with body kit and duel exhaust. Enough said!

On a side note, i think it looks nice but dont just get duel exhaust just for looks. Figure out how you can get maximum performance from it. I think Karbon did a great job with his post on tellin you what to get. :thumb: :talon:
