I'm new to this site, and DSM cars, so please bear with me. I've searched and read several past threads but haven't answered all my questions.

I've worked in mechanic shops for years and have access to all the tools, but lack the experience with DSM cars. I'd appreciate some help. I have a '93 talon with n/t 2.0 (blown), 5 spd FWD (engine code stickers are gone). I also have a wrecked '92 eclipse with recently rebuilt turbo 2.0 (4g63), auto AWD.

Is the '93 talon motor a 4g63 also?
I'd like to swap the '92 turbo engine into the '93 - is this a simple swap?
Are both engines 6 bolt?
Will the turbo engine and components bolt right into the n/t car?
Is there room in the n/t car for the intercooler? Is it necessary?
I'm assuming I'll need to swap the wiring harness also - does the ECU (engine computer) need swapped too?

I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Moved to the NT-turbo conversion forum.

Yes a 93 turbo talon has a 4g63 turbo.
No a 93 has a 7-bolt engine.

Thanks for the reply. The '93 talon is a non turbo car. Would it still be a 4g63?

What is needed to make this work, if the '92 turbo motor (AWD auto) is a 6 bolt and the '93 n/t motor (FWD 5 speed) it's replacing is a 7 bolt? Just a 7 bolt flywheel?

Marty

the 92 is a 6bolt, 93 nt is a 7bolt, won't cause any problems. just make sure and read my tech article til you have it memorized and you'll be ready to go. have fun, i'm starting to have traction issues in 3rd gear in this cold weather :D, never had to worry about that when i as nt :thumb:

Thanks.

So I will need a different flywheel and clutch? Do I dare reuse the nt clutch and just get a new 6 bolt flywheel? What vehicle ID should I use to order a new clutch and flywheel? Should it be a turbo clutch or nt? - I will be using the stock '93 nt 5speed trans.

If I decide to swap the wiring harness, is it just the under hood harness - or the entire harness under the dash too?

Thanks for all the help...

Marty

if you swap harnesses its only the motor harness that does run through the firewall and into the ecu behind the stereo.

as for the clutch situation here's my advice. if you're going to run the nt transmission you absolutely must use the nt flywheel and clutch. now what i'd do is take the nt flywheel that matches whatever bolt pattern you have on the new turbo motor (i see you have a 7 bolt now so try to find a 7 bolt 1g motor, nobody seems to want them so they shouldn't be hard to find) , have the flywheel machined, and then order a clutch from www.clutchcityonline.com . through all of my research these guys seem to have the best prices on act clutches anywhere and have shipped my stuff to me pretty quickly in the past. order up the extreme pressure plate (it's a 2600 plate) and then get their street disc. i'm running 20psi through a 14b and have enough power to spin my falken azenis's in 3rd if the surface is anything but perfect and the clutch still holds perfect. the stock nt clutch won't last long at all. mine was slipping at stock boost levels on a stock 6 bolt turbo motor with a 14b and 2.5" turboback. that's 10psi less than what i'm running now and the thing honestly would slip in 2nd if i went wot after slipping the clutch at all. in the end the friction disc shattered from heat warping.
