i have been doing some research and i believe that i do not have a fuel return.
my question is do i need one

like my profile says. i have a 96 gs with a HRC kit. i still have the cartech fpr

i believe i read that the 96 is a returnless setup but needs one with a turbo added
but i replaced my fuel filter this weekend (under back right tire)
and just started looking
this is how the fuel lines are ran
one line comes from up above which i am assuming is from the stock fuel pump
it then goes into the filter, line then goes through the walbro 255lph
then into a hard line to the front of the car
into the bottom of the cartech
then the line goes into the fuel rail.

my idle fuel pressure is always between 35-42 psi
and the fuel pressure always rises with boost 60-75 at 6 psi

just making sure nothing is set up incorrectly since i bought the car already with the hrc installed

We do have a return line. It goes from the stock FPR to the tank. If you pinch that the pressure will increase. that's how Cartech FMU works, and a few other ones. My static pressure was at 48-50 before I installed my new pump now its at 55. I think 35 might be a ittle low. Not sure what the manual says. I'll find out. I don't care if I run a little rich. My MSD DIS 2 will burn it all anyway.

ok that explains why i didnt see it i think
the stock fpr is in the tank right?

normally i am at exactly 40psi at idle
and the stock tach shows just a little under 1000 rpm's

the reason i am asking is that i am looking at upgrading my fuel system with a portfueler
and i keep reading about the aeromotive fpr that comes with it has a fuel return port
would that port just be plugged?

i have no clue about the port fueler. but the stock fpr is right above the filter and the return line comes out of it. check out the pic!!! late model fuel system 96-99

I can't attach this damn file sorry. But u shouldn't have any problems it's right above the fuel filter like a mushroom shape. good luck

ok what you do is pull out the stock FPR and run steal line from that to the engine bay, than i recomend running braided steal line from it to the aeromotive AFPR and then from the AFPR steal line to the shrader valve on the fuel rail. and there is your full return system. The stock one works by intercepting fuel before it goes to the rail making it a partial return. if you have anymore questions just ask
