Well guys, its been some time since I've posted in here. My baby has been on hold for a while, but the time has come to where I can finally get it going again.
Here is the problem. Coil1 (ECUpin2 Blk/Blu) will not fire. I've went thru every possible thing it could be, chased ever wire for shorts, and checked every sensor to make sure they all work. The only thing I cannot eliminate is my ECU as being bad.
Here is where it gets tricky tho. I dont have a Tech2 to test anything. I have 2 ECU's. I had originally thought it was my ECU, so that was the first thing I replaced. After I bought and installed my new ECU and found it didnt work, I found my water temp gauge wire was pinched in my motor mount, causing a short. My first question is, do you think that short could have sent enough voltage to toast both ECU's.
Second question; I have a code 6 (timing off, cylinder misfire, cam sensor, crank sensor) and I'm assuming its from my misfire because my timing is dead on and all the sensors are good. The question is, does our ECU have a safe mode on it. Seeing how severe code 6 can be, I was wondering if the ECU shuts off coil 1 to prevent engine dmg in the event of failure.
I just wanna see what people with more ecu experience have to say about these issues before I get a flatbed to haul her to the shop to get scanned. Any information would be appreciated.
