Is a 1.8 manual tranny interchangeable with a 2.0 tranny? My 2.0 is bad and I have a spare 1.8 sitting here. Will it work?

dont think so . i beleive the dowel pins are different. i could be wrong though. try it and let us know what happens, if it lines up it should work. cant hurt to try

Want' sure if it would work or not. I've heard both ways. Just thought I'd try. Don't need to waste time I don't have though! I guess I have a good 1.8 manual tranny I need to sell now. A good motor goes with it too!

i was wondeing a couple other things about the 1.8 myself. i was wondering 2 things

1.) i was wondering what the bore size is on the 1.8 and if it were possible to mate the 9:0:1 comp pistons from a 2.0 n/t into it.

2.) and if it were possible to mate the 4g63 2.0 head to a 1.8L block. or for that matter another 1.8L dohc head onto the 1.8L block.

i think there has to be some way to make the 1.8L make more power. it seems like nobody want to figure out stuff for the 1.8L. if you could get the head to work on that motor or any other dohc head to work on the 1.8L and get some good internals i think it would be a good motor. even if you could get the 1.8 sohc head to flow descent numbers it could be a good high rev motor. just a couple thoughts i had stiring. thought id share some ideas

OMG you dudes dont know shit, ive done a 1.8L tranny swap into my non-turbo 4G63 2.0L, i did the swap my self and it lined up perfectly, the only question in my head was the actual gearing in the 1.8L, since the swap my gearing seemed lower, it might of made my car slower....not for sure....but yes the 1.8L tranny's work with a 2.0L or visa-versa

listen,newb... i think you're the one lacking DSM drivetrain knowledge. talking down to people like you did in your post won't get you anywhere on this board either, you're running the ACT2600 with that 1.8 tranny huh? ...go cut your springs down some more,is it nice to have a DSM that handles like a dumptruck? yeah the 1.8 chrysler tranny will bolt right up to a 2.0 mitsubishi block, just like my snapper lawnmower tranny that i put in my bicycle.

yea for one i dont see how you can say we dont know $hit to quote you. for one there 2 different blocks with totally different setups. and id like to know how you got a act2600 to line up with a 1.8 since i cant find any parts except intakes and such for the 1.8. do some reading before you put people down and then come back and rag on people.

if you did get the clutch to work i would like to see specs regarding size and how exactly you do the setup. id like to see pics of how to get it to work and i dont see why you would want to go lower ion the gear ratio for the 2.0 n/t enigne. or even the turbo engine. they have some what short gears as is and to lower them would hurt the performance of the car.

please feel free to share your knowledge with everyone else on how you did this and where you got the clkutch and exactly which model you used. im interested in this.

i want to see a picture up close so we can see the #s,and it bolted to a 2.0. their is no reason to lie. it just makes you look dumb.or should i say dumber

i should of been more specific on my mods, the ACT 2600 wont work with the 1.8L, ive picked the ACT 2600 for 275$ from a friend with a 99 GSX, i didnt have much use for it then nor do i now..and for the 1.8L tranny, the clutch forks seem not aligned perfectly now and most of the time it doesnt go in gear...my bad judgement..and as for the newb, im far from it, im sorry that it seemed that way and i appoligize for that remark, you say it wont line up?.. i just wanted to prove you wrong that it will line up and work, and i know my fair info on drivetrains.. i did my tranny swap in my garage..lets just call it truths and i appoligize..and again im not a newb..end of story
