Now worried about my short shifter...

I had researched on how to install the Fidanza short shifter and got a pretty good idea of whats involved, but when I was researching I saw the 1g's have a problem with possibly overthrowing and breaking the shift forks, I could not find any info on this for the 2g's, is this or can this be a problem with the 2g as well or are the shifters set up differently? If it can be a problem what can I do to prevent it besides the obvious not shifting hard. Thanks

I've had a E.T. short shifter for about 4 years now. Although i've broke a few trannies and even stripped my shifter cables once, I have never experienced this problem.

Boostjunki84, I believe he was talking about 420A's.

Eclipse45150, You have to remember 2G's have differant motors: 4G63, 4G64, and 420A. The 2G N/T has the 420A motor.

I know that, but the setup is pretty much the same; it's just on the oppisite side. All 1g transmissions are on the same side, as are the 2g 4g63 equipped cars. Reguardless, I have never heard of this happening on a 2g turbo or N/T.

Also, some 1g's also came with the 4g37(1.8) engine.

Eclipse45150, I guess what we need to know is were your findings in relation to N/T's only, or did it include the 4g63 models as well?
