2G-specific vibrating car after clutch install

well, i did some searching and found that illlegit420 had a similar problem but his was just when he was driving, my problem is when im at idle and when im driving. the vibrating isnt real bad or anything, but it is noticable. anyways, i installed a spec stage 1 clutch n my car lastnite and noticed right off the bat during a test drive that it drove just a lil different than before the clutch was installed. theres even a sound difference in the engine, but nothing major. i wasnt sure if this was a tranny/motor mount problem, or it being just a new clutch would cause this. any suggestions would be great! thank you

eric

Make sure that the bellhousing is flush against the crankcase, and that all of your sensors are plugged in firmly.

Third time in the last couple of weeks I have heard this one. The others were bad balance of the spec clutch. GL

well crap, that sux! theres not much i can do about letting spec know considering i bought the clutch in november of 2006! i guess ill just have to deal with it until i either 1) its time to change it 2) save up for another, better clutch. thank you all very much, and if theres ANY thing else that you might think the problem might be, feel free to reply....again, thank you.

So it seems as tho spec isnt very careful about balancing...i think were both in the same boat...my car only started vibrating after the clutch also...not alot just noticable as you stated...but now im thinking it could have to do with my mounts...i know i have play in the one under my battery, and i know there is some play in the one opposite that one...i work with poly all day, when it comes out of the mold its about 390 degrees...im thinking about fabbing some inserts. Ill let you know if mounts can help at all with the vibration cause i know what your going through

Me being the parnoid #### that I am, I would be concerned with harmonics. It may not catch you now, but hopefully you can get a new clutch in before it does do something. "GOT FLUIDAMPR!!!"

when i had my spec stage 3 clutch i had a similar problem and it turned out to be that when you mount the clutch on the flex plate there is a significant amount of slack where the clutch can mount on the flex plate so if you dont center it perfectly there will be some if not a significant amount of vibration due to the clutch being off center. The first time i installed the clutch it was real bad and my car felt like a stroked cammed v8 or something it was rediculous. I remedied it to some extent and it did help alot. Later i came to really dislike the clutch because it was noisy, not driver friendly, and i broke two of the flex plates it attatches to so i replaced it with a south bend clutch and converted it to a non modular set up which is rated for higher torque and drives like stock. p.s. if anyone wants a stage 3 spec clutch ill get it to you for cheap low miles.
