Tranny Cooler

I pick up a decent size tranny cooler from a local junkyard and was wondering which hoses (left or right) on the tranny was fluid leaving the radiator and back into the tranny.
Or perhaps I should bypass the oem integrated cooler all together? I plan to go turbo soon and my turbo has water lines, and idea came to mind to use the integrated cooler to cool my turbo. Or would it not be efficent enough?

if memory serves, the one to the left (if facing the car) is the out, and to the right is in. I bypassed my stock tranny cooler completely:

sorry only pix I have are from my turbo re-install. I went with a 4 pass hayden tranny cooler.

I agree; I would bypass your stock cooler altogether.

I actually had a similar idea about cooling the turbo... See, I bought my radiator from Radiator Barn; and they sell the same radiator for both A/T and M/T cars. That means ALL of the radiators they sell have a tranny fluid cooler in them.

Well, having an M/T, I had no obvious use for that integrated tranany cooler, and I began to wonder if I could use it as an oil cooler instead. I did a little reasearch and found it just won't work out... the integrated cooler is too small for any effective cooling, and it just won't flow enough oil.

Plus, you couldn't add it to the turbo's oil feed line, since it would cause too much of a pressure drop. You also couldn't add it to the return line, since that's gravity fed, and the oil would begin to back up into the turbo (not good). The only way to do it would be to get a sandwhich adapter for the oil filter and route your own lines...
