i brought my car in for an alignment and they said they can't align my car because there is a small rip in the cvboot and i need to replace the lower right ball joint.. What does this mean?? is it dangerous to keep on driving it until i can afford it?

Replace it right away.. you can try your local Mitsu for a CV boot kit which would run you roughly 70-100 dollars depending.. try www.raxles.com for replacement axles for your vehicle.

Not really too dangerous, but you shouldn't keep driving on it for a long period of time. Get it fixed in the near future. 2g's had a racall for bad ball joints, was there ever one for the 1G? SHould not be too expensive to fix.

Replacing a CV boot and replacing your ball joint is simple, just use a small screwdriver and keep plenty of rags on hand if its an inner boot. And go to Napas website and buy your replacement ball joint. just buy that and the inner boot kit and do it yourself.. there are plenty of vfaqs on that replacement. i think i am just going to get the parts and than we go back to school tuesday and i have auto 3rd period.. i will jsut do it in the shop.. it's my 4th year takin so he should let me do it
the garage is chargin me for 2.3 hours labour.. does it really take this long?

i took a look at my cvboot.. the rip is fricken puny.. and it doesn't even look like they inspected the ball joint.. i think they are just takin me for a ride because i was supposed to get a free alignment with the purchase of 4 new tires.. i don't think they like to give out free #@%#@%#@%#@%
