spyder 2.4L sohc

i have a friend thats lookin at a 98 spyder with the sohc engine. he asked me what kind of perforance he can get from it but i really dont know. i noticed from the model guide that it only has 1hp more than an dohc n/t. why would they even put a different engine in the spyders if theres only a 1 hp difference? does it have a lot more torque or somethin? how would it be performance wise versus the dohc in an rs/gs? my fiancee has a 98 n/t, how would it compare to her car?

you can put a dohc head from a 4g63 on it an run a galant timing belt that will give alot more power...

2.4L Engines have somewhere around 150 Torque where the 2.0s have 130. I think it was just a marketing gimmick at the time.

Stock, you will probably be slightly slower due to the heavier weight
and smaller SOHC head/intake manny of the 4G64 engine. Modified with a turbo DOHC headswap , intake, and exhaust, you will be loving the extra torque of the 2.4L and smoke a 420a. Turbo'd even better since the larger displacement will spool a big turbo much quicker than a 2L engine.

So, bottom line is how much are ya looking to work to make it fast.
If not much, go with the 420a...
