transmision grinding

I have a 92 laser nonturbo. Its a 5 speed manual for some reason i have problems with grinding going into second gear. Has anyone else had this problem or know a possible solution.

I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH MINE BUT IT'S A 2G IT MATBE BECAUSE OF MY SHORT SHIFTER I AM WAITING FOR BUSHING I ORDERED TO COME IN AND SEE DID YOU CHECK AND MAKE SURE NOTHINGS LOOSE DOWN THERE?

i have same problem.. BC SYNCROSHIFT tranny fluid helps alot though

i just got this fixed on my 92 eagle talon, and its most likely either your syncronizer rings in your transmission or your clutch is out of adjustment(most likely tranny). If its anything like my car's problems it either grinds or completely slips out when you are revved up pretty high in first and quick shift to second. It should cost you about 500 or so in labor and each ring that needs to be replaced(there are 5) will run you about 20$. The original syncro rings were made out of some fibrous material and they are crap, if you are gonna replace them yourself or are getting someone to fix it for you, make sure you get the aftermarket brass syncro rings. do this as soon as you can because you can damage the boot and sleeve in the tranny(180$ a piece) if you don't fix it. make sure you drive it easy in the meantime.

-also, if your clutch might need replacing soon or you want an upgraded one, now is the time to do it. with the tranny out it should just cost you the part if some one else does it and its the easiest to get to with the tranny out if you do it yourself
