so it seems like this will be the next big jump for us n/t fellows! after reading some forums on the other site it sounds like some folks will be manufacturing kits for this swap. does anybody know when these will actually be ready for sale? the major problems are the passenger engine mount, crank sensor and/or swapping injector wirings, and the oil pan fitment. can we get a write-up in the tech section about this?? i am VERY interested in the 22% of extra displacement available from performing this exercise!! :thumb: please send me some info...trust
 
ok ive posted on www.2gnt.com about this very topic before and first things first, www.fasterthanyouracing.com already manufactures a kit for this. its about 2200 i think. dont quote me on that. but from my thread on 2gnt, i found out that this is a very hard swap and takes a lot of custom work to do it. remember, our cars arent like hondas so you cant just drop in another engine. go to 2gnt and search fty 2.4l or somethin to that extent and look for a thread started by injendsm for more info. later:dsm:
 
i have been reading up on 2gnt about this and it doesn't seem that difficult. i've rebuilt the 420a five or six times ( not trying to sound like a know-it-all cuz i still have LOTS to learn!! ) and except for the custom fabrication of a couple key pieces, i think i can pull it off. i just know that there are alot of other n/t guys that are in the same position i am, looking at the 2.4 with excitement. like i said above, it seems like this is the only way to go for the serious RS & GS tuners. i would like to see the information that is available pooled together and organized in one spot. that way we wouldn't have to go back and forth between sites, ya know. i only have access to the net at work and our computers are slow so its a pain sometimes to bounce to and fro. as far as the fty kit, i haven't been able to find it. i've found the rice killer 2.4 but that is just the block correct? i was unaware that they had built a whole kit to drop into our chassis, guess i'll continue searching! keep the info coming...trust :laser:
 
They have not made a kit for the install, that 2200 is just for the block. One guy on 2gnt is thinking about making one, but I have not heard a commitment just yet though.
 
yeah i didn't think there was a kit available yet or 1bill would have it i'm sure. was it motofool that was talking about making one? i don't remember but does anybody know if 1bill has fab'd one up yet? last i saw he was still missing the pass. mount. laterz...trust
 
i have a couple questions that i still need answered, does our 2gen tranny bolt up to the 2.4?? if i buy crane cam gears, i saw on modernperformance.com that they're selling 2.0 & 2.4 cam gears but aren't they the same?? our cam gears have 2.0 on one side and 2.4 on the other so can we just but the 2.0's and use them?? on the hood clearance issue, i've read that if the bump were on the other side it would fit right, is that truth? i want to keep my car looking stock so i can have one made of fiberglass with the bump on the other side if it will fit. keep the info coming...trust
 
The 2.4 dose bolt up to our tranny, The deck will sit about 1" higher you use your 2.0 head and 2.0 gears, re-wire coil pack and inj's, the kit your looking for is going to be made by Motofool & The1bll go to www.gottude.com that is there web site and there should be a # you could call ask Bill(Motofool) about the 2.4 kit. :dsm:
 
yeah that's what i was talking about, right there. the list of large (but worth it in the end) hurdles to be jumped for a much more powerful plant. please forgive me but is there a way to forward that list to this forum so the others can read it as well. i don't know much about computers. thanx again....trust
 
I guess someone could do a wright up on the subject. But that person would have to have done it before so the info. could be correct. I just have a list of things that need to be done, I have never done it before.:dsm:
 
yeah i know that this has only been accomplished by a few but that kinda makes it even more exciting, ya know. if you were to drop this baby in there over the winter you could almost guarantee that you'd be the only one on your block, then come out for spring smashing & laughing at the honduh chumps!! slap a turbo on it and your done!! well, might have to upgrade axles and tranny gears to really get crazy on some boost. the write-up is actually what we need here. basically a step by step procedure with all specs and instructions to make it work properly. i can't understand why there isn't MUCH more interest in this. this topic's been on the boards now for at least a few months, right? i can't speak for anybody else but the first time i read about it that one gear between my ears started spinning (insert laugh track) and i'd be lying if i said the soldier wasn't standing at ATTENTION!! torque just turns me on, i guess. there's nothing wrong with that is there?? i'll keep searching for info and placing it here for the others. any help would be great!! laterz...trust
 
i'm happy with my rs cause i smoked a 2.4 spyder on the interstate with a stock motor (besides the short ram intake which=about nothing)...so if one of ya'll do the conversion...let me know how it works out
 
DEFINATELY A SWEET ASS IDEA! i myself have been dreaming about this for a while. right after i heard that the spyder n/t came with a 2.4 the gears in my brain just started cranking! i'll definately be looking out for info and will be sure to post it here if i find anything. my dream is to drop a 2.4 in an awd and slap a big turbo on it and go BALLS TO THE WALLS! it's just my dream for when i get out of college and get a good steady income. for now i'm just looking to squeeze all the power out of my 2.0 1g nt as i possibly can with what little $$ i have.

however, my guess is that this will be a hell of a lot of work which i figure is why you don't really hear of it. well... i'll keep dreaming. hopefully someone will make this happen. that'd be SWEEET!
 
but the original post is based on a 420a swap.....threads do nothing for us.....2gnt'ers :cry:

BTW annyone know if the 600 hp mark has been atained yet with swap/internal uprgade+ turbo+ nitrous?? think 500 should have been done a while back cause 400 is easy to hit with stage 3 w/no Nitrous oxide (calculate an 80 shot + some propane for stability +20 psi..)

Is on the market allready? (BTW the FTY web site is not working)

I can't wait to get the kit in my hands and tune up my Gs.

I was planning to do the stroke 2.2L but i want to have more!! and
With out TURBO.
