changing spark plugs

Hey guys I just got my 98 gs last week and I'm planning on changing my plugs/wires tommorow, I bought NGK iridium plugs and accel wires. I took one of the boots off today just to check it out and I was surprised to see how recessed the plug was, do I need some special tool or extension to fit down that small deep hole to get to the plug? I have regular sockets and extensions, but will they fit? Also, has anyone tried the NGK iridium plugs? If so how are they?

you need a spark plug socket.
any parts store should have one......it is quite a deep socket....and quite a big one

The iridiums ought to be okay in a non-turbo'd engine, but I still doubt they're worth the cost. Let us know how they work for you, and get back to us.

If you don't feel like buying another socket you could just use a socket (13/16th I think) and extension until it's out and then use your plug wire to get the plug out. But I'm a tight wad so there's my 2 cents.

I tried those plugs. I HATED THEM . They made my car run bad. Definatly not worth the money. But as they say...."results may vary".

I am just using standard NGK. Car runs excellent.

Well I installed the NGK iridiums and the accel wires, couldn't have been easier. It's hard to say but I think I notice some increased performance specifically throttle response. Definitely worth the money as a good tune up/performance mod.
