I just installed my Cold air intake AEM's V2 and I noticed that my car was eating up a lot of gas. My girlfriends cousin told me it was because I did not have my exhaust system yet. Is this true or does anyone know why this is happening.

No it's not true. You are getting cooler denser air which requires more fuel in the mixture to burn at peak efficency. So some gas mileage is lost, however my theroy is that you love the sound and you have had a lead foot since you put it in. Am I correct?

i agree with kirby on this one. and the loss of gas mileage, if any, should be very minimal. at least with my injen cai. im actually getting higher than stock gas mileage with my cold air and muffler on:dsm:

True.... I'm not used to hearing that sound from my N/T. Damn it sounds good. That V2 is louder then I expected. I admit that I have been having a lead foot the past two day but I've been trying to change gears around 2000 rpm's. It still seems to eat up more gas then I exected. If I get the exhaust system will it help any.

why shift at 2 grand? shift at 3 grand at least. it shouldnt be eating up your gas mileage that much unless you are constantly hittin high revs and you dont shift till near redline. theoretically, an exhaust would take away some of your gas mileage also but i have a cold air and a muffler on my rs yet im gettin better than stock gas mileage for the most part. all depends on how and where you drive. dont worry bout losin a little mileage tho cuz it shouldnt be anything drastic. an exhaust will sound very good as long as you get the right one:dsm:

How are the proportions of the gas mileage before and now?
I have the same intake system, yet very small change in gas mileage.

But when I floor it.... damn, gas eats up pretty good compared to how it did when it was stock. Not too much tho...

AEM V2 Kicks A$$! :thumb:

all depends on how you drive. if you floor it everywhere you will obviously lose mileage. but if you drive somewhat conservatively(prolly spelled that wrong), then you any loss will not be too noticeable:dsm:

^^^^ Got that right!

But My point was:

I lose more Gas Mileage Flooring it With AEM V2, than when I used to floor it when my car was stock!

When I drive normally though, it just gives me the same mpg as stock.

well your gettin a lot more power from this then your stock so youll obviously burn more fuel when you floor your car with this rather than stock. theres a consequence for everything. in this case its nothing big:dsm:

Like you said... No biggie for my part
But I'm worried about "Burrito06"

He says it's eating up A LOT of gas... so I just wonder the proportions of how it was before and now with the Intake system...

NO WAY!
There's no way you're pulling +/- 450 Miles out of your tank son...

Sorry but my Daily drive is a 50 mile hike to work which consists of 40 on highway... plus some other extra places (most non highway)
My Tank lasts a week and I usually get from 320 - 375 average, driving with no A/C and pulling it hard sometimes.

The Max I ever got was 410 almost with no gas at all (pointer under E)
And Plus I dont even use A/C at all.. really rare for me to use it!

My car has started to get used to the V2. I am now getting better gas mileage then when I first put it on. It just took a couple of days for it to settle in. Driving a lot more conservatively and almost pulled a week out of the tank. Still got about half a tank left.:thumb:
