i'm almost positive i'm gonna get cams and cam gears but before i do i was just hoping for feedback from people who have already done so. just wondering if people are happy with what they got and if anyone has dynoed their car to see hp increase. anything you have to say would be great. by the way i'm driving a 95 nt with exhaust work and intake...the usual stuff

I have cams and cam gears on my car and I think that they make a difference. I am currently making 262whp at 14psi compared to other people that I know who are making a bit less hp. I contribute the gains to the cams. My cams are not dialed in at all. They were just installed and degreed to 0 and the timing was set.

Granted that my car is turboed, I have been told by Extreme Motorsports ( Sean Glazar himself ) that it would be much more beneficial to dial in the cams on a n/t car than it would a turbo car.

With that said I would go for it. Tuning the cam gears on my car I was told should be a last-to-do sorta thing to get a little more hp

what kind of cams is it that you are running, i has a nt customer askin me about them and i couldnt find cams for the GS or RS. accroding to hks they dont make em and i couldnt find anyone that did.

just curious because he wanted cams to go with the nitrous but i couldnt find a damn thing....

AEM Adjustables, they have a pair hanging on the wall at Mach V. They run over $200, you can buy BOMZ brand off Ebay for about $100, and they look pretty much the same, I'd get em if I had the money.

Understand something about cams, too: you have X amount of power. Cams _may_ get you a small amount more, but what most often happens is that they take the available output and put it in a "lump" so that you'll dog-bog off the start until you hit the revs where the cams are "on" and you get a load of power, often on up the rev range from there.
Factory cams are meant to put a good distribution of power across the rev range (often with a bias toward low-end torque to make a car feel "peppy" off a start), and keep lifter forces and valve accelerations aimed toward long life. Higher lift and more radical timing curves make for more power at the cost of greater guide wear and higher stress on valvetrain components.
