Hello 2 Ever1 @ DSM,

I just got a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse GS, im not sure if its GS-T, but on the back it only says its a GS... Anyways. I need your help and guidance as I would like to make my first car into a nice street performance car here in naples, FL...

So here's what i need input from ALL of you...

! Where shouls i start???, what should be my first step into making my 1999 mitsu gs into a worthy machine! What do i need to modify to get this GS up to speed with everyone... thanks!!

Ok first off, you need to find out if your car has turbo or not. Once you find that out, come back and let us know
 
it all depends on if you want all out power or a lot of show or a mix of both. once you decide what you want to do with your car, well be able to help you out and let you know exactly what to do. the obvious answer would be to say turbo your car. while thats a nice amount of power to add on to your car, its also 3 grand unless you get a custom kit. you might not have that money or you might not care about performance enough to turbo your car. just let us know what you would like to do with your car and we will help you out. at least the non-bastard people on this forum will. and, like goalieman said, check the tuning guide:dsm:
 
Ok if I could add my two cents here...

I bought my car over a year ago, and damn was it hurting (altezzas, welded on muffler, jacked up suspension, etc...), but when I bought it I thought it was the greatest thing in the world and wanted to make it the fastest damn thing around...

Word of advice if u have a mind frame anything close to that, SET YOUR PRIORITIES FIRST! That should be the number one rule to modifyin any car at all... I went out and bought the whole 9 yards for my engine... CAI, Headers, 2.5" exhaust, etc... Then figured out that the 420a engine just doesnt have any balls without a little boost... So I had to go and take off all my old mods (and loose a lot of money too) and spend more money on a turbo kit... Lesson was def. learned there...

Ask yourself if you want to go turbo (because its almost, not def. but almost, impossible to break into the 14s with an all motor setup)... Puttin a turbo kit on ure car will "keep you up to speed" with most of the cars out there, and for a hell of a lot less than an all motor setup will.... And if you have a non-turbo DSM go to www.2gnt.com , a site that is dedicated to our engines...

I know you might not know what you want for ure car right now, but def. put a lot of thought into it before u go and waste all of ure money (something I did) on stuff that you wont need in the long run...

Personally i say get the star stage 2 turbo kit, howell automotive bottem end kit, some cams, 3" turbo back, and u could push 13-14 pounds of boost, and have a sweet 420a....thats my dream setup

oh ya, forget to mention im halfway there ;)
