I replaced my spark plugs in MAy,

This week my car has been giving me trouble when starting. It likes to take a few times before it starts. it doesnt make any noises like a starter problem. Just either won't turn over or turns over then immediately dies.

After 1-5 chances it usually starts up and runs just fine untill the next encounter.

Any ideas???

Thanks

I had that problem... I took it in, and had them flush the system, fluids, etc. Worked fine after that... and if thats not then there might be a problem with one of your fuel lines.... either way, I think you will have to take it in before it gets worse.

Where are the fuel lines? and fuel pump? Anything inparticular to look for?

Pull your plugs, make sure they are gapped properly. Also, the only plugs I recomend for this engine are either the NGK's or Champion plugs. Champion came in the car from the factory and do NOT give cylinder mis-fire problems or starting problems unless they are worn out, gapped wrong, or cracked from the start.

The NGK's are the only other ones I would recomend because again, they don't give any problems. Any other plug and you may be creating your own monster. I've seen alot of platinum, A/C Delco, and Bosch plugs give driveability problems that are eliminated by putting Champions in there.

Check the date on your plug wires too. If you've got the original ones in there and you have 45,000+ miles on them I would recomend replacing them too. I would recomend either factory replacement wires from the dealership or Mopar Performance wires. They are 7.5mm thick and so they are insulated better than stock. The part number is P4876511 for those wires. They're actually a little cheaper than the stockers for some reason.

After that I would check fuel pressure at start up. The fuel pump, lines, fuel rail, and injectors are supposed to keep a certain amount of volume in them after the engine is shut off. If either of these components allow volume/slight pressure to drop then it will take longer for the engine to crank.

That's where I'd start.

p.s. also check/clean your throttle body. If the car cannot get enough air in at start up then it may be because of a dirty throttle body.

I had the same problem. Same year dsm. The way the dealer explained it was some relay between the battery and alternator. It would do the same thing as yours wouldnt even turn over no sound of the starter or anything then after 5 times it would start. Also your battery should just be about dead as well.
