I changed the oil every 3500 miles, and put Castrol 10w30

Well 2 months ago,.. i changed the oil.. and 2 weeks after, i had a oil pressure light... i was like wtf.. i just changed the dam oil... like 2 weeks ago...

Checked oil.. it needed more oil... so then i put 2 more quarts.. After a month i changed the oil

and all of a sudden 2 weeks ago.... same problem.. needed more oil.. put 2 more quarts...

A couple nights ago.. when i redlined it.. out of my exhaust.. their would be smoke everywhere.. and a smell.. of burnin oil... this is goin on and on now... i try to shift at 2,500 rpm.. at idle its okay..

What do i need to fix the problem... ?? thanx for the help guys

It is probably rings or leaky valve seals.

To test if it is rings, pull out the oil dipsick while the engine is running. Hold a white sheet of paper a couple of inches from the dipstick hole. If there is oil spatter on the paper, you have blowby of your compression rings... As 97 eclipspe put it, time to see your mechanic.

If there is no blowby, in that case it is most likely your valve seals... Which will require a rebuild of the head... Not too fun, but while you have it apart you could put in performance cams and valves.

kk guys.. i changed the oil yesterday... but rite now .. my car is pushin slow today in 1st gear.. at 1 to 2,000 rpms... no noise... my car back fires out of the catalytic converter... and im smokin alot.. what couild it be.. i got extended warranty soo .. i can still take my car

i know its not a piston tho.. i think its the valves too.. im not too sure.. i dont really know #@%#@%#@%#@%

If you have extended warranty just take it in tell them to fix it. I woudln't even attempt to fix anything covered under warranty. Its way too expensive to mess with when they'll fix it for free.

or atleast go to dealer and have them figure out whats wrong with it, and then get it fixed, i agree its the smartest way to go.

will this work on my 1g n/t too?? or is this only for this car?

guess what guys took it to my mechanic.. told me it was valve seals.. and have to rebuilt the head..

$750... but idk now its makin some tickin noise... when im revin at high rpms.. hopefully it aint the pistons...

... what u guys think change the motor.. rebuilt the head for 750?... extended warranty said to suck my dick.. thats what they said soo i got to find out if i want to rebuilt it or.. change motors.

PS: hondahunter2002... oh hell no... nahh u arent my boy john sessa so u cant say that ! ! !

I got some bad news for ya man :( If your car is ticking at high rpm's you probably have a spun rod bearing, which means you will also need some bottom end work. If your car is still under warranty, I suggest that you take off all of your engine mods (intake, exhaust, etc) and take it to the dealership. They should fix everything at no cost to you. My car was losing a grip of oil before as well, but it was because it was blowing it all out of the intake breather. Before I could catch it I started getting a ticking noise above 3000-3500 rpms. I dropped it off at the dealership and one of the techs I know said to take off all my engine mods because they are starting to crack down on modded cars. After I did that and brought my car in they said it was a spun bearing and they replaced my block with a rebuilt unit. They said that Im lucky that it happened before I hit 60,000 because my bill would have been close to 4000. If they decide to not cover it under warranty just get it rebuilt with forged pieces on your own, it will actually be cheaper that way. Also get them to do the timing belt change for you, all you will have to do is pay for the parts since the engine will already be out and disassembled.

idk where u went 1TuffRS

.. but my uncle is a mechanic and he is takin a look at my car.. and he said the tiking is from teh timing belt... and my valve seals need to be changed plus the head gasket.. spark plugs.. and wires.. and im puttin in cam sprokets like waffle said

well if it does happen to be the timing belt consider yourself lucky. My question is what would be making the timing belt make a ticking noise.

As for where I went, I went to the mitsubishi dealership and had the car serviced under warranty. They did all the required work in a few days at no cost to me. So basically I have a brand new stock bottom end (completely free) and got my 60K service taken care of (for the cost of parts only). Hell I kind of got over since doing just the 60K was going to, at the very least, cost me around 300 bucks rather than the 60 I paid.

edit: Oh yeah, I remember at first the guy at the dealership tried to tell me that it wasnt the spun bearing like I told him, but was in fact one of the belts hitting something. Well he checked everything out and came back and told me what I told him: spun bearing. I do hope that the only prob that you have is the timing belt, but since you have been running low on oil be wary of that.

well ill tell you how all the problems will be ...

but can anyone tell me.. where i can get cam sprokets for a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse NON turbo... in pairs.. really at a cheap price.. ive seen them goin for like $300~400 a pair.. for aem way to expensive.. has anyone seen them under $200
