Important **muffler** Question!

Hey yall DSM lovers,
I currently own a Full Cat-back exhaust by Bom Z, but I sorta don't like
the way my car sounds!
I low RPM's it sounds deep as hell and when it reaches 2.750 to 3.250 it's the PEAK! Great Deep and smooth.. however, anywhere after that seems that is all motor ... seems like the deep tone fades off to almos nothing.

So here is my question...
Is changing my muffler going to change anything regarding noise?
I was thinking about Magna flow or Apexi Muffler but I'm not sure if just putting a new muffler on is going to change in anyway how my car sounds.

I really appreciate if someone can help me and also please point out some places that I can get a good deal for a new Apexi or MagnaFlow

I got the exact same problem you do! I got a 90 N/T with a complete pacesetter system from header back to muffler, removed cat installed test pipe. I think My problem is either my test pipe or my muffler im guessing its just to free flowing i dunno, i got a high flow cat coming so im legal and maybe it will add some back pressure and tone things up to a more deeper sound. Any ideas here?

Nah, It couldn't be your test pipe...
maybe our mufflers are just shitty :laugh: hehe j/k

Mine I wouldn't say is a problem, it's just that the sound of my exhaust is not as smooth and deep as it is until about 3.5k I should say.
Anyone with any ideas that if I change the muffler, and not my full cat-back, is going to give me a different sound?

yea this pacesetter muffler it big and ugly i think im just gonna replace it, If its not the test pipe DANG I just spent $70 on a high flow cat, Well at least im legal. Whats the piping size on your cat back system? Mines 2.5 from cat back

It should not be hard at all, it's just that I'm not sure!

Probably not. It's not a problem. If you want to try, then do it. I'm pretty sure no one has changed a muffler from what you have to what you want so no one will know.

Get a COMPLETE exhaust system (no, a muffler doesn't count as an exhaust). Then get a header and an intake. Now she should sound perfect.

dude ofcourse changing ur muffler will effect ur sound!I have the pacesetter complete exhaust sistem and my muffler is doing same thing it is noizzy untill i hit 4000rpm then it is smooth and u hear mostly the engine but u ll always hear the engine more then the exhaust after 4000-5000 rpm so...Im gona change mine and I ll put full titanium muffler.

I don't think I've made myself clear
I do have a Full Exhaust Cat-back System from BOM-Z (2.5'')
But I don't like the way it sounds!
Then If I switch the current muffler I have to another "better" brand,
will it sound different?

Let's say if I change I will have ie.: MagnaFlow Muffler on a Bom-Z Full Cat-back (2.5'')

I'm still with a doubt in my head but I dont think I was clear saying that I already have a Full exhaust system.

I think the answer your looking for is YES! Each muffler is different. Each one has a different tone or sound. Personally I would never buy anything from pacesetter. But to each his own. I have a Arospeed muffler with a custom setup from the cat back. So its a little different from yours but, the answer is yes. I have to agree with RACER though....
