It is part of your intake system and you already have one on your car. It controls many things and has many sensors on it. The main thing it does is controls the amount of air that enters the intake manifold for your engine to eat up. It does this with the throttle plate and throttle cable.

You get added HP if you buy a bigger throttle body. More air can enter the engine. This usually only works for big HP gains in conjunction with an open cone filter, straight large intake, a large intake manifold and a decent sized exhaust system.

You will also get more throttle response with a larger TB. The accelerator will feel much touchier. Have fun, but remember that this mod will work best with other related mods as stated above. Picture putting a piece of a drinking straw on either end of a garden hose. Get the idea?
