5 spd vs. 6 spd???

no, 6 speeds are not made for going faster. When a car company decides they want to put a 6 speed in a car its for one of two reasons. 1) is fuel economy on the freeway(imagine a 5.7L v8 running up the rpms on the freeway) reason number 2) the power band of the car is so small that more gears are needed to keep the car in its power band(example is the s2000 it doesn't really make power till it hits vtec which is someone around 6000rpm, with more gears the car will be above this point more often and thus for be faster). Now for eclipses turbo and n/t the engines have a really wide power band(across alot of the rpm range) so a 6 speed is not needed for the power part. Also since we only have a 2L 4cyl fuel economy isnt much of a concern either so we don't need one for that either. So no the five speed will be better, not to mention you can't get a 6 speed for our cars anyway. late.
