If I replace the catalatic converter with a resonator, will my catback exhaust be much louder? How much horsepower could I expect to gain from it?

First off, good luck finding someone to do that. It is illegal for a muffler shop to remove the catalytic converter like that. If I were you I would just get a test pipe and if you think you need the resonator later on go ahead and get it. I have a gutted cat and I noticed an increase in raspiness and noise levels. I have a silencer for my exhaust but I think Im just gonna leave things as they are until I go turbo and make any changes that I feel I need to.

usually it will make a little more noise and usually more highetr pitch noise. JUst go with a tunable muffler or one with a resonator in it, or just deal with the noise.
