Apexi N-1 Cat-backs Too Quiet??
Hi,
I went to one of the local performance shops here in town and I was talking to this guy that works there about different cat-backs and other stuff for my 2g Eclipse GS and we got to talking about the Apexi N-1 cat-back because I asked him if they carry this exhaust and how much they were and I also asked him about this exhaust if they where good and loud and he said they're good exhaust ,but they are TOO QUIET!!Is this true that Apexi N-1's are too quiet? If they are I got to rethink a new exhaust because I want a loud good performing exhaust that also looks good, thats why I was thinking about an Apexi because I heard from other people that they were loud and performed good.I don't know! What do you people think?Any info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan

sure he wasn't being sarcastic? I've never heard a quiet n1... also, why would you want a loud exhaust? loud doesn't equal performance

i have to agree with your guy who said it was to quiet, i got the universal Apexi N1 N/A with 2.25 custom piping and resonator and it is quiet and doesn't sound that good im actually thinking of going back to my Ebay OBX Racing muffler cause that sounded good. im pretty dissapointed with the Apexi :thumbdown was really excited but not after i got it done.

Wait, you just got the Apex'i N1 muffler, and you're downing Apex because the muffler sounds bad? The muffler and a whole cat-back will sound completely different.

I had the 3" N1 cat back GST exhaust on my Eclipse and it sounded beautiful. Sounded great with the turbo and without.

Me not reading carefully didn't realize he said catback im not downing it, it just didn't sounds as good as i expected but it only been on for 200 miles or so, so maybe it just needs to wear in.

All straight through mufflers will sound about the same, this goes for Greddy, Apex, Universal (note I said mufflers, not cat-backs). I have a dual outlet muffler and it sounds about the same as the straight through I had, but much quieter.

It's not quiet, it's got a deep, tuned sound but if you're into that really bad high pitch rice , then don't get this exhaust but don't dis a truly tuned sound

I know this is old, but had to add something as well. I got my Apexi catback system last month finally and I am really happy with it. It has a real deep tone which gets louder as I pick up speed.
Thanks
Chris

Since it's already up... I got the n-1, but for the gs-t (3" instead of 2.5"). It's not very loud, but a got a 3" cat (ungutted). It does have a nice low rumble and I love it being quite.
