what should i do? i need some advice

sorry if this seems repetitive in any way. ok ive got a 97 eclipse rs with 87k miles on it. ive been set on a turbo kit for a while and was going to start saving all my money up for a stage 3 kit from hahn very soon. tha only thing is, i am going to be a college freshman starting in august and dont know how much time i will have to work with evrythin at college goin on. also, i work at publix so its pretty obvious i dont make that much money. when i first got into tha import scene it was cuz of looks mainly and thats something ive always wanted from my car while having some speed at tha same time. what i want to know is if you people think i should just save up all my money for a turbo kit which i wouldnt have for another few years; or should i just go all out in looks and all-motor performance? im starting to think about doing tha latter bcuz my next car will be fast no matta what and bcuz of my limited budget. let me know. thanks evryone:thumb: :dsm:
 
I've had the same debate.....what i came to is that id pour my money into making it a fast non turbo or buying a hahn stage 2....another thing i was lookin into is finding some guys who know their stuff and piece together your own custom kit...i met a guy in my area with a tsi awd and hes the god of the 4g63 and he wants to see my 420a haul ass so him and i have started gathering money to buy used pistons, rods and cams then use a used SIMC with any kind of turbo you want and just build it up like you want it...i've found it to be a lil cheaper than buying one from hahn..but on the other hand a stage 3 would be hard to do on your own...hope i helped ya out a lil.
 
Depending on how much you've already got saved, I'd got with Howell Automotive's bottom end kit for a little over a grand, then either buy the Star Stage 2 (if you can find it) or get Hahn Stage 1 and try to find a used SMIC...off of a 2g turbo if you can find it.
 
tha thing about tha money is that all of it i have right now will be going towards a security system, rims, and suspension. after that is what i was unsure of doing. i was thinking that if i were to do more power, i would just go all motor bcuz if im thinking right it would be possible for my to get over 200hp all motor wouldnt it? if so that is fine with me bcuz i want my eclipse to look good in my eyes more than anything. i dont even care to much anymore how fast this car is bcuz my next car which will most likely be an evo(even tho i have a few years till that 1) will be fast. so when it comes to speed and power i would pretty much just like at or over 200hp from my motor. and then when that part is done i could rebuild tha bottom end so that, depending on tha money i had at tha time, i could either go turbo or just use some nitrous.:dsm:

97 RS, I would not take that tone with a Wiseman, he can have you banned. Learn to take criticism, you'll get plenty for owning a Neon powered DSM anyway.
 
i can take criticism. tha kind your talking about is that dealing with my car. this guy did nothin but complain cuz i wrote two words shorthand. big deal. there are people on here that post stuff no one can understand. as long as you can read it who cares how its written. why are we even getting this far off topic? tha only responses im looking for are those that actually pertain to my question.:dsm:

defiant is tha only guy that does this. most of tha turbo guys, like siueclipse, in this forum actually help evryone out and answer questions. those guys i am perfectly fine with and respect them. defiant however didnt even answer my question. he just complained cuz i shorthanded two words. now can we please stop worrying about this stupid shit and just get back to tha topic which is what i should do with my car? forget these last few posts and start back from tha top:thumb: :dsm:
 
Alright comming from someone who owned a n/t and now has a turbo. Let me give you some advice. Even though you don't have to take it seeing that its your money and your car and your time. Anyhow what i would say is don't do any of the things you are planning on doing. Alarm wheels and suspensions ya you should do, but there is a reason why and here it is. If you honestly want a fast car sell the n/t and buy a turbo. I know you don't want to hear that, but its cheaper and easier. The only real way to get 200 horse out of the 420a without alot of money is nitrous. if you want that go with it. Here are the stages i went through with my n/t. Stage 1 stupid ricer that didn't know anything about cars and thought i could make my rs the fastest shit on earth. STage 1 and 1/2 added aem cia and hks hiper exhaust to whoop the "compitition."

STage 2 after adding before mentioned mods i realize that i am stupid and that it will cost money to make my car fast(you seem to already know that) so i decided i would go the nitrous route cheap and effective:thumb: <-always a plus right? So after thinking that over and trying to figure out a way to let my parents ordre this on their credit card(pre 18yrs old) I figure #### it i will save up and buy a star stage 2. Well at the time i payed a car payment, insurance, cell phone bill, gas, and rent to my parents so i figure this will tkae me forever to save up 2900 then i have to find i way to buy a cheap beater to drive around while i install this thing. After a while i realize it would just be easier to sell the car and buy a turbo. Now if your car as some sentimental value to it or you just really want to do this then more power to you.

But my honest opinoin would be to sell your car take all the mods you can off it. then buy a 95 96 gst or tsi and put all the mods onto their that way you aren't loosing all the money you put into your looks mods/performance and you have a factory turbo vehicle. I garuntee you won't be dissapointed if you do this, on the other hand if you go the turbo kit route you won't be dissapointed also. Either way your going to spend mroe money than you will ever like to on your car but hey that's the problem with modding in the first place.
 
i honestly just want some decent power that i will notice. thats why i was thinking of going all motor. i am thinking about putting nitrous in my car but only for the few times that i might go to the track. i want my car to look good more than anything right now but thats because my next car will be fast. thanks for the help 98eclipseRS:dsm:
