I was changing my timing belt and when i got to pulling the crankshaft pully off it wouldent budge. I know a guy with the same problen. I got a 97 and he gots a 95. Any helpful ideas on how to get theat thing off would be great. Mitsubishi wants $350 to do it so i sais screw that. Pleasw help.

do you have the puller? mine was a bi*** as well.. if you have the puller, just put it on and really torque it down.. then spray some BP blaster on it. It will break free eventually..

with mine.. one day i go out there and put the puller on, would come off.. we must have had 700lbs of torque on the thing, still wouldn't come off. the next day, i went out and barely torqued it and it popped off.

i tryed putting the impact on it and i have been through 3 pullys the threads keep gettin messed up. i guess i just got to go get that puller off the snap-on truck. $100 for that one but he says it wont break.

what all do u got done to ur car its clean as hell. HP? 1/4 times?

I have a 1997 I had a problem getting mine off as well. I was told you can also heat it up and it might come off easier. Also take a hammer and tap on it ever once in a while. i actually broke the pulley taking mine off. Oh well now I have a ligthter one :thumb:

Let's see if this will fit.
ok so it did... here's the view from under the car, and torn down to where you are trying to get.

See the crank bolt is installed in the crank (it's the lowest pulley on there)? You've got to either use a much longer bolt or the pin that is the same diameter as the bolt. The puller jaws mount on the back side of the pulley. The bolt of the puller presses against the pin or longer bolt that goes in place of the crank bolt. If you do not have a pin or a longer bolt in that hole then all you're doing is trying to pull the vibration dampner in to multiple pieces. You're pulling against itself. The pin that takes the place of the crank bolt is what you press against to properly remove it. No amount of P.... B.... blaster will make that pulley come off if all you're doing is pressing against the pulley while pulling on it at the same time. Clear as mud?
