Question

Weird Cam Noise?

I opened my hood today while driving after about 20 minutes and i hear a noise i havent heard before. I listened around and heard it was from one of the cams. Im not sure how to describe it, but it almost sounds like an idle? maybe its dirty or something? I moved the cover around and it didnt seem to change anything. Not sure if itd be the belt, or the actual gear. Cams are the only thing im not really familiar with.

Suggestions of what it could be or anything would help.

It seems to actually only be coming fron the cam gears, and it has 100,000.

inspect your timing belt. unless somehow the cam is actually hitting the plastic im not sure what else would make noise by the cam gear only.

The bolt holding the gear to the cam might have came loose. Check both and make sure they aren't loose.

im pretty sure they ride on journals not bearings. your cam gear bolt might be loose too. theres an intake and exhaust cam gear i think your refering to the intake gear. noises are hard to say what it is without actually hearing it. post a video if you dont figure it out.

Yes i narrowed it down to the intake gear as you said, im hoping its just loose, but Im thinking its just noisy. Because it runs perfectly fine.
and ill have to record one tomorrow, but the noise is almost like a squeak?and it does get louder when i hit the throttle.
