Ive been thinking for awhile now about my new intake. I have an obx one that I was going to cut up and mod to fit my needs but I don't want to cut it up if I can just use the stock intake. I want to cut out the curve and make it a flat intake kinda like on the 4g63 JMF ones. So my question is could I just cut my stock intake off about right after the fuel rail and weld a plate of aluminum to it. I have both mig and tig welder setup with argon gas. Ive done a bit of aluminum welding in the past but not on intakes. Any help would be appropriated thank you.

Just need to be aware, when welding to our intakes, the material is pretty "dirty". Lots of crap within the material.

I love all of them I reed the thread on 2gnt.com of the ITB's great work. The first one you posted is just what im looking to make or buy if some one has one to sell. Did you use just normal aluminum plate or did you need a certain type?

The images of the intake you linked look like an AMM, and let me tell you, you are not ready for it (or that design) you will lose a ton of mid range HP and TQ, until you are properly built for it. Let me put it this way, even I lost about 15lbs of tq, and move my hp curve about 1-2grand rpms to the right, so even I am not really ready for it until I build to rev the hell out of it.

Im building my car for a supercharger and need the room. That is the only real reason why I want an intake like this. The supercharger is to sit right above the intake. on it's own brackets. I looked up AMM and seems he dose great work but wow bad feedback from his buyers.

If you have a year+ to wait for your part that he's a good choice, I got lucky for only waiting for 4-6 months. but his work is good, but if you can do it yourself than not worth the headache
