I just bought a 92 Eclipse with 87,000 miles on it. The car is in good condition but the 4G37 does not get any spark to the spark plugs... The SOHC motor which is in the car has a distributior which I tried replacing already but I still have no spark... Any Ideas? That's my first question my second is:
How much work does it take and what do i need to do to switch from the 4G37 to the 4G63? Do all the wiring harnesses need replaced? Can I use the same transmission? Thanks

To answer your 4G63T question, that is simple. ITS HARD AS HELL, LOL! THe transmission, for one, yeah its the same size, the fork is the same size too, but lets put it this way, you have a 5 BOLT flywheel, and it's defintely smaller, and you also have a small clutch set. SO that would all have to to replaced. Now if I were you, and I am not, I would make sure I have some good experience under my belt before I start thinking of doing a conversion. YOUR WIRING HARNESS IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT, your missing your coil pack wires, and the Cam/crank shaft positioner. Not to mention knock sensors and all that crap. So basically you would have to put a new wiring harness in from a turbo 1st gen, buy a turbo'd ECM, if it didn't come with injectors, you would have to get them. ANything it didn't come with you would get. THe only compatable thing you would have is your air filter. LoL, I know that sounds rediculous, but its the truth. A conversion of this mulitude, would cost... I would say around 2.5K.

Hey I replaced my cap and rotor... No luck the dang thing still isn't getting any spark... I even bypassed the plug wires and came right out of the distributor, but I got nothing... So I'm going to go on out to a junk yard and see if I can't pick another dist. up... Anything else you can think of that might be bad?

GeneW Crank sensor-ECU

Our cars don't work like that my friend. Our Ignition is totally mechanical. It gets spark from the turning of the cam, if you are totally off timing, then it won't start at all. That's a proven fact. I would try another distributor though... and also though, I remember seeing a wire that plugs into that distributor. Check out that line, if it's junk, it could be ruined. So maybe you would get a new wire from another car and just plug it in. Like I said, I am not sure where it goes, but I will look into it tonight while I pick up my block. Anyways. Remember, I am only a PM/Email away. Later.

The wires look fine... I am just down to actually going out to a junk yard and picking up a new dist. I'm going to have a 25 year mechanic come out and test all of my electrical system.... We'll see what happens then... I'll let you know what happens.

hey im doing the 4g37 to 4g63t swap.i got everything i need ecu tranny for my 94 but the problem was when jdm sent me the motor there was wires that was cut.also another problem is the motor is from japan so ive noticed some wires has to be extended.my question is can anybody help me find the full wiring diagram for my japan motor or is it the same as the american 4g63t?any help is appreciated.thanks dsm

Just buy the us spec harness. The jdm harness goes in thru the left side of the car, the us harness goes thru the right side of the car. It is quite a bit different.

Yes, all you will need is a wiring harness to get all the sensors speaking to the ECU! And I found it to be quite Easy to do! Just source one is the hard part!
Best look at people doing complete partouts in order to find one.
