Single overhead cam and dual overhead cam

Hello,
Recently, my 420a lost a lot of oil while letting my sister drive it while she's back from Korea. Unfortunately, she ended up breaking a piston and a connecting rod.

SO my granfather called me this morning and said "i think i have a motor that might fit in your car... its a 97or 98 single overhead cam 2.0 liter 16 valve thats hooked up to an automatic transmission."

I have a dual overhead cam and my manual transmission is fine. Will it bolt up fine if i take off the automatic transmission, and drop it in? i havent seen it, but he said its in good shape and he pulled it out of an Avenger.

Or do you think i would be better off replacing my pistons and connecting rod?

The only sohcs that come in the avengers are v-6s the 420a is a dual. If it is a singe you are going to need to put the dual head on that block the intake and exhaust are usually on the opposite side on a neon. Wich is the only veichle I recall chrysler made with the 420a single.

The only drop in motors are from the 95-99 n/t eclipse/talon and the avengers, and the avenger cant have a single cam. Your best bet is to find the right engine, if you broke a rod and messed up a piston, then more likely your head is damaged. If your head is damaged then your better off finding a longblock(the right one), not a motor that needs a head transplant
