I have a 99 non turbo 5 speed manual eclipse. It was parked for about 7 months and we went to start it and found that the ECU had smoke comming out of the plug area. I have checked the wires to the plugs and they all look normal. I had a blown 20 amp fuse in the cond fan spot and replaced that. I also do not hear the fuel pump turn on when we try to start it, not sure if that is due to the ECU being fried. Everything else on the car seems to work just fine. The car cranks normally. I cannot see what is burned on the ECU board due to a silicon like gel that fills the ECU. I am just wondering if this was due to an old ECU or if there is another problem that I need to find before replacing the ECU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
