i thought test pipes were bad for n/t because our cars dont make enough back pressure hense we would loose hp. i thought test pipes and gutting cat backs were only good (making power) for tubos

backpressure is never needed in any exhaust system. What you want is to maintain exhaust gas veocity. Too big of an exhaust and you will lose that velocity at lower RPMs but will make power up top because of it. Using the test pipe in the same diameter of your exhaust should not cause any problems other than making your exhaust louder.

like the guy above said... Backpressure is not the absolute answer... I would do 2 1/2 inch piping and get an exhaust system with the largest amount of flow. Removing the cat. is a good idea, but it will change your sound somewhat.

ok then its not back pressure thats in question with a test pipe and cat system or full exhaust system... it's the size of pipe that can make you loose power. thanks good reading, hella' long but good reading.
